The Source of My Strength

Chapter 35

The day begins and Hawks takes Izuku to a tall skyscraper. "So, how confident are you that you can fly using that quirk?" Hawks asked while looking over the edge. "Um, only a little, why?" Izuku said before Hawks used a feather to grab Izukus shirt and pull him off the edge. "Well, let's test this out then." Hawks said before releasing the feather, letting Izuku fall.

Oh my god! Why did he do that? I'm gonna die! No, I got this. Just focus on where my strength comes from. Think of my friends. Of Ochaco.

Suddenly Izukus momentum stopped. He was flying around 10 feet from the ground, except it wasn't because of Levitate. Hawks had caught Izuku with a feather so he wouldn't hit the ground. "I see, so not quite there yet." Hawks said before flying up to the top, bringing Izuku.

Damn it, I almost had it. Just a few more seconds.

Izuku thought before Hawks began speaking. "I know what your problem is kid. You had it, you were slowing down,  but the issue is that you were thinking too much into it." Hawks said.

I was thinking too much into it, I see. So my weakness is overthinking the situation.

Hawks put Izuku down and landed. "You should be able to lift yourself up, try it now, just a few inches. Clear your mind and focus on what's in front of you." Hawks said. Izuku closed his eyes and began trying to focus. His feet started to lift a little off the ground but as he was a few inches off, his body jerked and he lost focus before falling back down and landed on his butt.

"Ouch, ok so I can do it then." Izuku said while picking himself up. "You have it down but you think way too much kid. Flying should be just as second nature to you as walking. But you're doing good so we will skip the part where I throw you off the building again." Hawks said.

"We will focus on training your mind to clear itself while at the same time posting your senses such as seeing and hearing. So you can find people a little easier when they are in trouble." Hawks said, making Izuku excited. "Ok! How will we do that?" Izuku asked making Hawks shake his head. "Not like that kid. It doesn't matter what we do so why ask? If it works then we'll do it, simple as that." Hawks said while shaking his head.

I see, I guess I am thinking too much into this whole thing. It's so exciting though.

"Ok, let's get started." Hawks said and began explaining the training to Izuku then they began training until noon. "Ok, great progress, let's get some lunch." Hawks said and Izuku nodded in response. The two walked down to a chicken place that was close and ordered. "So Hawks, what exactly will this help with?" Izuku asked.

"Well, it'll definitely help with reaction time. You won't think about dodging, your body will just do it. And your hearing since you won't be focused on certain thoughts you'll pay more attention to the things around you, allowing you to hear slight noises such as rocks slighty moving or screams from a far distance." Hawks said.

Wow, why haven't I tried this before? I guess it's cause I never thought about it.

"Makes sense. Is that how you are able to control your feathers so well?" Izuku asked and Hawks just nodded and the two continue eating, until they heard screaming from outside. They run out to find a couple of near high end nomu are attacking innocent civilians. "Where the hell did they come from?" Hawks said while running to the nomu.

These must be near high ends. I didn't get a chance to fight them 1 on 1 before, but they were able to take on pros so I don't know if I can take them.

"Hurry kid, we gotta help out! You have the fire power to take these things on, I don't think I do." Hawks said while using his feathers to pick up and carry the bystanders away. "Got it!" Izuku said while sprinting to the first nomu.

The nomu was black with claws like a cat. It seemed to have some sort of animal-like quirk. It swiped at Izuku but he easily dodged it and hit the nomu with a 45% kick to the hip, which did nothing to the nomu. The nomu then put its hands above its head and slammed down at Izuku with as much force as it can use.

Izuku barely dodged and attempted to use his long ranged flick at the nomu, making it stumble back until it was near a streetlight. When it made it next to the light, Izuku ran at 65% speed and got behind the light. He hit the light with a Manchester Smash and made it fall onto the nomu, still not dealing much damage.

Crap, how am I gonna take this one on? I can barely use 65% but I might have to try.

The nomu got on all fours and began running at Izuku who jumped out of the way and used black whip to grab the fallen streetlight and hit the nomu with it, making the nomu fly back. Izuku then used black whip to tie around it and pulled the nomu towards him and punched it with his left arm using 55%, making the nomu fly into a building. The nomu was immortalized and the only one that was left was a very muscular one that Hawks is fighting.

It seems Hawks was able to get everyone out of the way, hopefully I can help him to on that big one.

Izuku begins running towards Hawks and the nomu and sees the nomu pull back his arm and punch the ground making debis fly up and a big piece hit Hawks left side, making him fall. The nomu then pulled back for a punch but Izuku used black whip to grab the nomus arm and keep it back so Hawks can get himself ready to fight again. But before Hawks can get up fully, the nomu pulls on black whip and throws Izuku into the building.

The nomu then kicks Hawks and goes for another punch but Izuku is able to use black whip to pull on it's legs and make it fall. Hawks finally gets up and uses his feathers to pin down the nomu, immobilizing it, for now.
