Title: The Job of an Imperial Concubine
Type: Chinese Novel
Author: Yue Xia Die Ying
Chapters: 121
Descriptions:
To pass as an imperial concubine, one must be professional.
Actually, the profession of an imperial concubine is pretty good. The emperor will accompany you in eating and drinking, and even pay you for it. What's not good about that?
Thoughts:
In How To Be A Virtuous Wife, one concubine said that if He Heng and Qu Qing Ju met when he already became an emperor, things would end differently. This would probably be how it would end.
What made the two male lead's different was that He Heng gave the security, loyalty and love ML couldn't. So it was inevitable their endings differ too.
I like how FL relates being a concubine to a job, because it's true. It's like you have to become an artist for one person. Wear makeup, extravagant clothes, please them, make them feel satisfied, then don't mind if they look at other artists.
I like the realism in this novel, as well as most of its characters.
ML is a good emperor and night lover, but not exactly a good husband and father. Most if not all characters are quite pitiful tbh (yes I'm including the emperor) especially since love cannot exist in the imperial harem.
Truth be told I dislike harems (I have a few exceptions) and rarely like love triangles, but maybe I'm fine with this one because FL didn't love ML. So since she didn't love him, she didn't feel hurt.
Oh well~~
