Title: I Don't Like The World, I Only Like You

Type: Chinese Novel

Author: Qiao Yi

Chapters: 19

Description:

The night before we obtained our marriage certificate, I asked him, "When did you start to develop feelings for me?"

He answered, "I don't remember."

"But, why me?"

"Why not you?"

"I'm very petty, and I get jealous very easily."

"So am I."

"I'm afraid I'm not worthy of you."

"So am I."

"I haven't really dated, so I don't know what love is."

"I don't know either."

He held my hand gently, "But I know this. When I think about spending the rest of my life with you, I feel that my future is filled with hope."

At 16, we used the same class desk, with less than 10cm between our arms. My peripheral vision was full of him.

At 26, I woke up in the morning, and saw the sunlight softly shining on his face. I thought, this is how I want to grow old - gradually, together, with him.

I guess this must be love.

Thoughts:

This is a very cute story! One of my all time favorites!

The author wrote it in like a dear diary sort of format, only showing snippets of their relationship, however I didn't dislike it. Sure, I wanted to read more of their moments, but not everything has to be shared.

This story is based on the author's own relationship. Because of that, it portrays what a real and healthy relationship is like (ofcourse not all relationships are like this but you get the point)

I can also relate to FL because she had scoliosis, and because of that she lost her confidence. However I never knew that you could get surgery to "fix" it?

Anyways I just recently found out that there is a manhua adaptation of this! The title is All the things I like about you/Only you are what I love, not the world. The art style is rather cute, suitable for its content.

The drama on the other hand, Le Coup de Foudre, changed a shit ton of things

The drama on the other hand, Le Coup de Foudre, changed a shit ton of things. (The lead actors, Janice Wu and Zhang Yujian, are married and have a daughter! My ship sailed😭)

(..uhm update: my ship sank. They divorced😭)

Back to the drama, is it bad? No not at all

Back to the drama, is it bad? No not at all. The actor's chemistry (main and side) were on point! It doesn't focus only on the romance, but the morals and values of many characters as well.

It is quite different from the book though and a lot of changes were made (for more drama). One of the things I didn't really like was how they made FL's brother and her friend a side couple (I like them as individuals, not as a couple), but nevertheless I enjoyed watching it (episodes are available on youtube with english subtitles.)

The actor for ML did a great job at keeping his face expressionless but still managing to show his emotions. FL, despite being more timid, isn't annoying. Probably because they were together during the filming, their chemistry was off the charts (I love love LOVE their kissing scenes). The side characters managed to steal my heart too (especially FL's bro) and it isn't overly dramatic with plot twists every episode.

So try it! Btw you might as well watch the behind the scenes also available on youtube. The leads are so fricking flirty. (this aged so badly)
