Thoughts:
I don't play games so I don't understand a lot of references, but this novel made me want to play one! Since I don't play games, I can't tell you if the author's descriptions are accurate or not.
Anyways, MC is OP, but at the same time, has his flaws. One of my favorite quotes of Ye Xiu was, "Me? Oh no, my power isn't an illusion. I could demolish you." Ngl, that sent shivers down my spine (in a good way.)
I liked the fact that MC was focused on teamwork and friendship rather than romance. I loved the team's dynamic. It would've been nice to see my ship sail, but I didn't mind that it didn't.
However I wouldn't deny that at some point, I felt bored. Still, I really enjoyed this story.
It has a manhua, anime, animated movie and drama adaptation. This was actually the first chinese show (animated and drama) I have watched, so it holds a special place in my heart.
I really enjoyed watching the drama. Other than making me discover Yang Yang (loml CARRIED this so hard), the graphics of the game was top tier! Not only was it designed very game-like, the actions are also very fluid and don't look awkward.
I would have to admit that the drama is not loyal to the novel. There were a lot of changes in the characters, the plot, the antagonists, and so on. However they also made the characters not as 2D. So some changes I liked, some I didn't. As a stand-alone drama, this is top tier.
I find it hilarious tho that the internet cafe/computer shop that Ye Xiu would work at was so spacious. It looks as big as a starbucks cafe with so few computers. It was so unrealistic it was funny😭 (that business go bankrupt quick irl).
So yeah, the drama and novel are not perfect, however I am willing to overlook it for Ye Xiu (my beloved).
I would've liked extras after the end but oh well...
