This is a very short and sweet story about two college sweethearts, who separated on a bitter note but fate tosses them together again seven years later.
Thoughts:
Not my favorite story yet it still made me tear up.
They are the straight version of the couple in After Our Divorce, I Still Wore Your Jacket. Communication is the key, and that's what they lacked.
I kinda shipped FL with her ex-husband. No reason. I just liked him enough to do so. He wasn't forceful or anything, but was actually the opposite.
I don't like the (step)sister. Like bitch, you were indirectly the reason why they separated and you blame FL for leaving? Fuck you! YOU were the one who caused your brother unhappiness.
When she realized that without FL pestering her to join them, she had no opportunities to visit the ML, I was so happy! Especially when she noticed he hasn't moved on, I was like: HAHAHAHAHAHA suffer! Women supporting women go brrr.
So yeah, I liked this enough to recommend it, but overall average.
It has both a movie and drama adaptation. I haven't watched it, but I have read reviews regarding it.
Based on what I gathered, the movie You Are My Sunshine was good! The adaptation was loyal to the source, and the actor's chemistry was quite good as well. The show stopper though was the portrayal of the leads, especially FL's actress (Yang Mi).
Next, the drama. I haven't watched it as well, so I looked for the reviews.
Based on what I gathered, the drama My Sunshine (available on youtube with english subtitles) was in between good and average (the opinions were 50/50). The drama is very slow paced with all the flashbacks, however the university flashbacks was probably one of its best aspects. The FL's adult self could have been better in terms of acting, but ML's actor aced his (he's great at kissing scenes too). The directing, planning, and the like could have been better as well. Overall, it could be a great or bad watch depending on the person watching.
So yeah, try the novel.
