(long chapter)
TW: Depression
Yeonjun took the banana milk box out of the store fridge and turned to look at the contents. Humming to himself, he nodded, satisfied with his pick, and placed in the now partially filled basket.
"That's all for now I guess," Yeonjun said counting the items he had and made his way to the cashier.
There was a group of girls before him and they were talking about some upcoming beauty peagent recruitment in their school. Yeonjun and Soobin's former school.
"Oppa!" A meek voice called out and the chattering among the girls quietened. Yeonjun blinked and turned around to see if there was another guy behind him.
"Who, me?" Yeonjun questioned, pointing back at himself.
The girl nodded, grabbing a stray strand of hair and tucking it behind her ears. "You're very handsome..."
Yeonjun smiled shyly, not knowing what to say and the girl struggled to continue as well, observing Yeonjun's face.
"You're our school senior right?" A taller girl standing behind asked. She had bright lipstick on her face, slight blush applied and permed hair that cascaded down her shoulders.
"Yes...?"
"Oh, he is the guy I told you!" She turned to whisper fiercely to her other friend, then placed a hand on the shy girl in front of her and pulled her back so she could step forward.
"Sunbae, our friend, she's at the same level as you," the girl started. 'She had a major crush on you and we were hoping to help her out a bit."
Yeonjun blinked again. "What?"
The girl sighed and dropped the hand that was twirling her hair. "Winterball is coming up... she wants you to be her partner."
"But..."
"You are single right? I've never seen you hanging out with any girls in our school before." The girl raised her eyebrows.
Oh my god this bit-, Yeonjun started to think but an icy hand hand gripped his hand from behind.
"He's my boyfriend, so please, kindly go away and leave us alone."
Yeonjun snapped his head around to see Yeji sashay in and plant herself in front of the him. The hand slithered down and intertwined with Yeonjun's larger one.
"Tell your friend we're sorry," Yeji blandly said and cocked her head, a clear signal for the girls to leave or she will start trouble.
"But who the heck are you? I've never seen y-" The girl started but then the shy girl stopped her. The other two girls who just stood there guided her out of the store.
"I'm very sorry, we'll leave now," and then she was gone.
Yeji turned to look at Yeonjun with the same expression she had held before when dealing with the girls.
"That is one hell of a resting bitch face," Yeonjun chuckled and moved forward to the counter, placing the basket on it.
"Of course, it certainly helped us didn't it?" Yeji's expression melted into a softer and let go of his hand.
"Thanks Yeji," Yeonjun smiled.
"No problem bro," the girl laughed. How fascinating was it that a few months ago Yeonjun truly hated this friend, and now there were good friends once more, even better than last time.
Yeonjun went forward after the customer infront had left and paid for his food while Yeji waited.
"Ready to go?" Yeji asked, sucking on the lollipop she took out from her jacket.
