PATCHES OF BRIGHT blue sky were beginning to appear over the castle turrets, but these signs of approaching summer did not lift Cassi's mood. Draco continued to avoid her like a plague, and she continued to avoid Hermione the same way.
"Cassi," A voice called, making Cassi look up from her book to see Daphne walking toward her.
"What?"
Daphne plopped her next to Cassi in the Slytherin Common room as she looked at her a little angrily.
"When will you stop avoiding Hermione?" She said, frustration dripping from her tone. "She won't stop asking me questions, and it's driving me crazy. Why can't you just talk to her?"
"I'll talk to her when I feel like it, okay?" She said. "I just need some time."
"I really don't get it." Daphne said shaking her head. "What happened to make you sulk like this again?"
"Nothing happened." Cassi said, closing her book and standing up. "And don't ask me questions."
She left the room, leaving a confused and worried Daphne.
As Cassi made her way out to the empty corridors, she saw a couple of girls pass her, looking very pale and unhappy. She recognized them instantly, they were the Montgomery sister whose five year old brother had recently died in St Mungo's by werewolf bite.
It was heartbreaking to hear that. The boy that died was an innocent, he was just a five year old child and he died. He didn't deserve that. It was cruel that life had been so unkind with him, to a person who had done nothing wrong, who was good. It was heartbreaking to see that this war was destroying life of everyone. Anyone who came in her path, and everyone who wasn't even aware of it.
How was this fair?
The child died and the one who committed such big crimes were still living. How was this fair that Voldemort was still alive and this five year old child was dead?
There's a one famous saying: You get what you do. What goes around, come around.
Cassi wondered many time whether is was true or just a vague saying with no truth. She was starting to doubt it. Because she couldn't see the Voldemort and death eaters getting the pain they deserve. Because the good people who had already suffered a lot, were still suffering and their pain was only worsening.
How was this fair? How was any of this fair?"
Cassi would see Death everywhere she went. Lurking in the shadowed corner and behind the blood-spattered wall. Death was everywhere.
