"The one and only," she responds with a nervous smile. I continue to stare at her; how can this be? How is she here right now? Oh my God, did she sleep with Ryder? Wait. I look down at her bulging stomach. She's only two months pregnant, and her belly already looks like a basketball. The thought of the baby actually being his instead of Travis's comes to mind. "What are you doing here?" she asks.
I narrow my eyes. "What am I doing here?" I say loudly. "What the hell are you doing here?" Who cares why I am here? Why is she here, at Ryder's house? On his bed, wrapped in a wet towel, she doesn't answer me; she just tugs at the towel pressing it closer to her wet skin. Her black wavy hair continues to drip; each drop of water falls from her ends onto the wooden floor. She dyed her hair, that's why I didn't recognize her at first. Black hair on a ginger, she looks so different. I will say though; it looks sorta good on her. The black hair contrasts nicely with her freckles; the black hair brings out her light green eyes even more.
"Jayda." The confusion leaves my body and then enters the raging monster. I press my lips together hard and then turn around. I keep my arms glued to my side and bawl my fist tightly. Ryder is standing five feet away from me. I look at his hands, which hold a pair of folded clothes, jeans, and a sky blue shirt. My eyes meet his; he looks shocked to see me as he should. I also see the guilt on his face; he knows why I am here.
He takes a step forward, "Jayda I-" My hand flies up and smacks him right across his face, his head swings to the side, I hear Katie gasp from behind me.
My hand stings, I hit him pretty hard, harder than I meant to. He quickly looks back at me; his once soft eyes are filled with wrath. "What the fuck was that for?" he shouts.
"You know what that was for." I spit, I hate when he does this when he acts like he has done nothing wrong.
He throws the clothes on his bed. "I have no fucking idea." he throws his hand in the air.
"Stop lying!" I yell. "You know what you did!"
He pushes his hair back with his hand. He got a hair cut, his sides are low, and the top is full; before he pushed it back, little black pieces fell forward. "I don't know what I did; you're going to have to be more specific," he says.
Of course, I do; he's always doing something; I'm not the only person whose life he ruined; maybe he should keep a tracker on the things he does and who he does it too. "You told everyone," I say, my voice is shaky. "You told them about the cutting and the facility and-"
"I didn't tell anyone," he says, scrunching his eyebrows.
I bring my hand to my shaking head. "No, no, no," I shout. "Stop lying. You're still lying." Warm tears fall from my eyes, tears mixed with anger, sadness, and frustration. Why can't he be honest? Why can't he just come clean? He's lying, I know he is, there is no other way Matt and Ashley could've found out; he is the only one who knows.
His warm hand removes mine from my head. My wet eyes look up into his forest green eyes. "I didn't tell anyone." He says sincerely. "I wouldn't do that," he adds softly.
My eyes continue to stare into his; I pull from him. "Then how did they find out!" I growl.
"Who?"
"Matt and Ashely, your girlfriend and bestfriend. How could they know?"
He shakes his head. "I have no fucking idea."
I take a deep breath. I don't know if I should believe him or not; I can't tell if he is lying or telling the truth. I'll have to figure that out later; right now, I need to focus on Katie and why... how she is here. I turn around and look at Katie; before I open my mouth to speak, I hear the door slam shut. I turn back around and see that Ryder is gone; he left.
