Today's the school's annual sports week. I had our school's jersey and biker shorts with sneakers. I went out to the kitchen where Aunt Julie was.

"What's for breakfast?"

"That's what you're saying?" she asked, "Not― 'Good Morning' or 'How was your sleep?'"

I give her a back hug, "No...it just smells so good."

"Are those croissants?!"

"Why, yes."

I rush to the kitchen with incredible speed and grabbed myself a cup of hot chocolate together with a croissant.

"Is Louis picking you up?" Aunt Julie asked, plopping herself on the couch to turn on our tv and watch the early morning news.

With my mouth full I answered, "Yeah, I think so...I haven't texted him yet."

"You both seem to spend time together more often." She smirked, "Is there really something?"

"Something?"

"No."

"Well, I see that you've been checking on Mr. Morales lately," I add.

Mr. Morales is our new neighbor. He's a news reporter and is probably a bit older than Aunt Julie. He's like Tom Cruise in short.

She says unconvincingly, "You're changing the topic."

"What? No. You're denying the topic." I yell, grabbing my backpack as I heard Louis' car honk. "Love you!"

"Good Morning."

"Good Morning to you too." Louis greeted me as I was getting comfy on my seat.

"I'm so excited for this year!"

"Me too!"

"What sport did you sign up in?"

"Can't sign up for soccer, because I'm already a varsity. So I joined basketball and a few fun games.

I laughed, "Basketball?"

"I've known you for 6 years and I haven't seen you play basketball."

"Then you should watch and be my number one girlfriend." He smirks.

Girlfriend. It's weird how he says it. It's not weird that he really calls me that but it's the way he does. Sometimes, I try to pretend that all of this between us is real, even if I know that it isn't. I'm just glad that I felt like a girlfriend for once.

"We're here."

"See you later."

"See you."

"I love you!"

I roll my eyes and Louis clutched his fist on his chest, pretending to be hurt.

I chuckled, "Oh, Louis Partridge you really do make me happy."

I walked through the halls and everyone was in sports clothes. I drop by at the principal's office to check the schedule for today when suddenly I bumped into someone that was completely not familiar.

"My apologies, I didn't mean to―"

"It's okay."

I look up to the person and it was a boy. He looked scared and he's obviously new here.

"I'm Lucas, Lucas McAdams."

I chuckle at how shy he was, "Well, hello there. What's with the books? It's the school's sports week."

"Yeah, I know. I'm just an exchange student."

"Oh, You're picking up your books."

Trevor Olsen, the brat he is, passes through us and smiles. So pathetic!

"You're gay, right?"

Lucas stutters, "How'd you know?"

I wrap my arm around his shoulder and we walked along the now empty halls, "Oh, please, new kid. I got you."

"I'm not ashamed about it, my mom knows, my dad kinda' knows, it's just―"

"High school." I continue.
