We walk to the receptionist with our hands full of bags on each. Politely, the woman asks in her smooth French accent, "Bonsoir."

"Comment puis-je vous aider?" (How may I help you?)

"Nous aimerions deux chambres, s'il vous plaît," I asked. (We'd like two rooms, please)

"Bien sûr, laissez-moi vérifier" she nods. (Sure, let me check)

"You know how to speak French?" Louis whispers.

"Of course I do."

"Je suis désolé, il nous reste une pièce. C'est Noël, nous sommes généralement complets."

(I'm sorry, we have one room left. It's Christmas, we're usually fully booked.)

"What?!"

"Pardon." (sorry)

She hands me a small key with a little Eiffel tower key chain. "Here's our last key."'

"Thank you."

"So we're staying in one room?"

"Yes, yes we are."

"Well then, you're stuck with me."

"I always am, anyway." I chuckle.

"The space is quite morbid. But the view..." Louis begins.

I open the curtains and see the beautiful view of the Eiffel tower blending with the city's night lights.

"Is dynamite." I continued.

I scatter my things on the single bed and put them neatly in the small set of drawers.

"I sleep on the bed. You? On the floor." I demand Louis.

"There isn't any extra mattress."

I open my mouth to say something but there was indeed no extra bed to sleep on.

I can't believe I'm saying this, I'm not sure! Should I?!

Well I have no choice, don't I?
