7:32 in the morning, I wake up. I forgot to close the drapes last night so my face got exposed to sunlight once I opened my eyes.
"Shit!" I hissed.
I roll over to reach for the drapes and close it so I could get back to sleeping again. Half asleep I was incautious, I fell from my bed on the floor wrapped around in my blanket.
"Ugh." I groan.
I puffed my nose. I thought there was something smelling good near me. It's probably my neighbor upstairs. She's a chef; I'm sure she's cooking something fancy just for breakfast. But the smell was so close. Impossible enough for me to smell from upstairs. I turn to my window, still on the floor; it's closed. I'm sure I didn't leave any of my windows open.
So I stand up and open my door when I spot a boy wearing an apron with a spatula in his hand.
I rub my eyes to see if I wasn't daydreaming about a cute Lee Jong Suk in my kitchen. (Yes, I did watch a Korean drama and didn't work out. TRUST ME)
It was Louis who managed to get in my apartment without even asking me or texting me.
"Good Morning..." He nervously greets.
And smiles hesitantly. "Sunshine."
I point to face, possibly I am still half asleep. "You call this face, sunshine?"
I walk to the kitchen counter where he was cooking.
"Isn't that your name?" He says as he slowly yet surely stirs the spatula in the pan.
"Louis Partridge, what are you doing here?"
"I'm making us breakfast." Louis states.
"Obviously you are. Seriously, what are doing here?" I ask again.
Unconvincingly he replies. "I heard you came home on your own yesterday so...I came here."
"Oh, and you think I'm believing that."
"What? Have I not been this caring to you?"
"Do you want me to answer that?"
He shrugs. "Go ahead."
"With all honesty? No."
"What about those times where I spend the night here when you had your monthly allergies." He points out,
It's true. He does spend the night here every time I had my monthly allergies. My nose was stuffy as always and Louis would buy soup for me.
"How did you even get in here?"
"The window was open."
"I live on the 4th floor."
"Robbery can happen anytime."
"And I passed the emergency exit."
"How can you...?" I begin.
"What?"
"Nothing." I blurt out.
I was going to ask how he had the guts to be here and cook breakfast for me, not after what happened the other day. Maybe this is the sign he's giving to forget everything and that we just got caught in the moment. Ok, Louis, I'll just go with the flow; NOTHING HAPPENED.
