While I rush to the guidance office, Lucas comes up to me.
"Hey, that looks like yesterday's hair."
"Clearly..." he continued.
"Lucas!"
"All right, good luck!"
I walk into the spacious office only to see our counselor's secretary.
"Hi, I'm Sunny. I have a meeting today with Ms. Lesley."
"Oh." She grabs her pen. "Fill this up first."
After, I gently knock on the door and take a small peek inside.
"Come in."
Ms. Lesley continually taps her pen on a file that looked like my records all throughout the years.
"So, during the college survey that we conducted." She says. "I noticed how oriented you are with schools in the United States."
I place a strand of my hair behind my ear. "Yes." I smile shyly.
She lowers her reading glasses. "And you are...planning on applying for Stanford University."
"Yeah, I am."
"Why so?"
"My parents...they met there."
"I see."
"Sunny, you have amazing grades and perfect attendance ever since. I'm sure you'll get into Stanford."
"Although, I need to know, are sure about this?"
I raise a brow in curiosity. "With what?"
"Stanford."
Am I sure? I don't even know. With reasons that have to deal with Louis and my aunt, my job. Turns out, I'm lost. I now realize which path should I choose?
A knock on the door interrupts my conversation with Ms. Lesley.
"Excuse me, but, Sunny? There's someone on the phone for you. She says she's your Aunt."
"She sounded different." Ms. Lesley's assistant added.
I was worried as walked out of the office. What could possibly happen to Aunt Julie?
"H-hello?" I stutter.
"Hey, I've been texting you this morning. Why didn't you call back?"
Oh, it's Louis.
"Why are you pretending to be my aunt?" I whisper.
"If I said it was me, would you answer?"
I roll my eyes playfully. "Ok, what do you want?"
"I'm sorry about Millie, I didn't-"
"Know she was here?" I continue.
"Alright, everything is forgiven."
"So...should we watch a movie-"
"No!" I pause. "No more movies."
"Are you free tonight?" I could feel him smirk behind the phone and I chuckle silently.
"Uhm, no. I'm sorry Lou. I have work tonight."
"Why don't I skate you home?"
"Sure, I'd love that."
"Lou, I'll call you later. I gotta go!"
"Ok, I love you," he whispers.
Louis Partridge, you always find a way to put butterflies in my stomach.
"I love you too." I whisper back.
