As I slowly open my eyes, I feel amazingly comfortable. The kind where you could just blink and fall asleep, and your body just sinks into your bed in warmth and comfort. I feel Levi's soft hands around me, our legs intertwined. If I had a nightmare last night, it's gone for good now.
I pull myself from the comfort of his arms and my warm bed, which feels like trying to pull yourself from a giant piece of gum.
Instead of jerking Levi awake like I really want to, I place gentle, smooth kisses on his face, then forehead, and finally, his lips.
His soft blue eyes flutter open, and the color in them is even more beautiful and vibrid now, from the light shining through the window.
"what time is it?" He asks, smiling.
"Nine," I reply.
"Well then," he plucks a kiss on my forehead, "let's get going."
After getting dressed and putting our makeup on, (well, my makeup) we drive to the hospital.
We hold hands all throughout the walk to my father's room. It's frostbite cold outside, and holding Levi's hand sends waves of heat through my veins.
"Oh, hi!" Jackie, my dad's assigned nurse, stops us in front of his door.
"Just the person I wanted to see. Your father is doing much better than we thought. At first we thought it was a major ordeal, but this morning, we took a look at the data, and he seems to be doing just fine. Probably still a bit shaken up, but he's doing wonderful. He should be out by noon."
Yes! Maybe we will have Christmas dinner as a family after all.
"Oh wow. That's fantastic!" I exclaim.Levi squeezes my hand, and I look at him with excitement, squeezing back.
"Thank you so much Jacky!" I let go of Levi's hand to give her a hug.
"No problem, sweetie." I barely feel the poke of her clipboard as she pats me on the back.
"See ya later Jacky." We part ways, and I rejoin hands with Levi as we enter my dad's room.
He lies awake in his bed, and sits up when he sees us come in. "There's my little geek. Come here sweetie." He holds his arms out for a hug, and a smile welcomes me in. "You look happy," I say, hugging him tightly.
"Sure do," Wren says sleepily. I hardly noticed her before; She stands up from the chair she was previously sleeping in, and gives me a hug. "Hey, sis." When my dad isn't looking she pats my stomach and I smack her hand away. "Ow!" She laughs.
Great.
Just another reminder of the news I must push on my father.
I'll just do it at Christmas dinner. Yeah. No worries.
Okay.
"And Levi! How are you? Both of you? Tell me what's going on! I haven't seen you both in months for christ's sake! What's the sitch?" He puts his hand out and imitates Kim Possible.
We all laugh, and Levi and I sit down to tell him almost everything.
Sorry guys. I will get caught up with the months, don't worry! I'm getting better with time management and will have the next chapter before next week.
