Our second lesson was a massive success.

We'd managed to finish up a bit earlier than we'd both expected so that left us with a half hour of free time. When I'd arrived, I'd quickly noted that Thanatos seemed tired and slightly stressed, but his demeanour changed the minute we sat down. His tense shoulders dropped and his smile was softer, less disingenuous. He looked like he'd relaxed a bit.

It made me happy to see him in this light; it suited him to smile more. He had a ridiculously handsome smile. It lit up the room and his laugh alone was a delightful melody. I tried to make as many witty remarks as I could manage just to make him laugh. I think he really needed it too...

Our lesson was fast-paced and very interesting. He was an excellent teacher. Extremely intuitive, perceptive and really very patient. It was a pleasant surprise. But of course, the tension between us was suffocating. It truly was the one hinderance that kept coming back to bite us every single time our eyes met or our hands unintentionally touched. It was torturous.

I so badly wanted to strangle the voice inside my head shouting at me to just give in and lunge for him. There was very little keeping me from doing just that; specially when he chuckled to himself when I accidentally made a mistake with a spell. He was so... nice.

It was strange.

A good strange.

The best part was that at no point did I feel uncomfortable. Oh, I felt pressure, nervous, anxious, broody and so much tension, but I never felt uncomfortable.

When our lesson was done and we had a half hour left, my nerves shot up in a whirlwind of angst. Is he going to try to seduce me again? Honestly, I wouldn't last if he did...

Thanatos unexpectedly suggested that we go for a small tour around his palace, but of course, there was the risk of us running into one of his family members.

"I know this must feel strange for you, but I swear it's nothing weird." He explained as he grabbed a pouch from one of his drawers by his desk.

"No, I understand." I nodded and smiled supportively. It wasn't that he wanted to hide me like a dirty secret, it's just that his family had a reputation with outsiders. Even if he was Emperor and his word was law, they could still give me grief. He wanted to avoid that.

"Here." Thanatos dropped a small, powdery-pink tablet in my hand and handed me a glass of water. "I promise it's not a sedative." He said teasingly and with a sly smile.

I lifted my brow in response, but grinned at his joke. If he'd wanted to take advantage of me, there was nothing stopping him. It's not like I could fight him off. Besides, he had his chance to do some immoral things to be that night of the dinner party and he chose not to. I was deeply grateful for him for that.

"What is it?" I ogled the small pill.

"It's a herbal mixture that suppresses the glow of your magical aura. It will make it easier for us to move around the palace, because even if I make you invisible to others-"
