"I don't understand why we're here in the first place..." Aphrodite said with a rude bite as she examined her sharp, pale pink nails.
Persephone clicked her tongue at the other goddess and swooped in for my defence. "We're here to help Thanatos with ideas too court Aurora."
"Not court." I corrected her and poured myself a drink. "And not help with ideas either. I have ideas, I just need you two to tell me if they'll work."
"Oh." Persephone looked somewhat disappointed, but then her smile quickly reattached itself to her face. She clapped her hands with glee. "This is better!"
"Ugh..." Aphrodite rolled her eyes and played with a strand of her strawberry blonde hair. She looked completely disinterested.
When the throne shifted from Zeus to me, Aphrodite had been given the option to either serve my mother as a servant, just like some of the other goddesses, or to be exiled, but the former goddess of beauty and love offered me another deal.
She would give up her domain and title to be my lover, much like the deal Persephone negotiated, but this deal was true. Aphrodite was a lover of mine and I suspected that was the reason behind her complete annoyance with this conversation.
She ought to have known better; I did not have feelings for her and it was made abundantly clear many times. Nothing since has changed.
"So then," Pers asked with excited eyes. "What's your plan?"
I took a sip of my whiskey and sat down across from the two women. My chambers were empty, except for the three of us. I didn't want any servants overhearing me discuss something so unfamiliar- it was odd. The Emperor was asking courting advice. I've never had to do this before...
"Did you try to seduce her?" Aphrodite asked with a sly smile and glanced me up and down with dark eyes.
I frowned and slanted my eyes. Dryly, I replied; "Obviously."
Pers rolled her eyes at the other goddess. Aphrodite was always trying to flirt and seduce me in front of Persephone, mainly because she thought the other goddess was her main competition for my affections, but in reality, Pers and I had no type of romantic relationship whatsoever.
But that was a very big secret.
"And it didn't work?" Aphrodite looked shocked. She scoffed; "Are we sure the girl is mentally stable?"
"She's fine." Persephone snapped back at the comment and shot Aphrodite a look. "Aurora is just scared."
"Of what? Excitement and pleasure?" Aphrodite countered the argument and gestured to me with a perfectly manicured hand; "Are you telling me she's rejected him? Oh, please. She's probably gay then; have you thought about that?"
"She is interested in him; that's not the problem here." Persephone adjusted her rosy dress and tried to explain the issue to her old friend. "The problem is that she's not used to feeling this way, clearly."
