Chapter 38 - In the Witches forest

So up there is the Kaito reveal :) I tried my best to draw him out like I wanted, and for the most part he came out like I wanted to anyways hope you guys are satisfied

"Alright are you ready to go Y/n?" Vanessa asks me and before I can opening my mouth, Kaito speaks up

"So are we just invisible?" Kaito, in his sylph form, crosses his arms as he flies next to Yuno

"Um well about that..." She trails, scratching her cheek slightly. "Only women are technically allowed in the witches forest..."

"Well there's no way she's going in there without me" Kaito announces, taking a seat on my shoulder

"Well if you're technically in your sylph form, there shouldn't be an issue...." Vanessa trails, then looks back at Yuno. "...getting Yuno in would be the issue"

"Yuno!!!!" a scream is echoed through the air as Yuno and I exchange glances already knowing who it is. Asta comes running up the the group of us and smiles. "What are you guys doing here?"

"I need Vanessa to take me to the witches forest, but she says that Yuno can't come with"

"Wait don't we still have the cloaks that we used when we had to get Asta and everyone in there?"

"That's right!" Vanessa runs back inside the base, leaving the group of us outside. As Noelle and Asta begin to bicker, Yuno watches closely while I tap my finger on my arm, zoning out everything around me. Heat starts to run up my arm, causing me to let out a sharp his that only Kaito picks up.

"Is it the marking?" He whispers careful not to get the attention of anyone around us

"It's...hot. For some reason it's like only that part of my body is heating up" I raise my right hand up to my left arm, resting it on my forearm and using some of the ice to cool it, but to no avail. I let out a sharp breath just as Vanessa comes back and throws a blanket like cloth on top of Yuno.

"There. That should keep him from being noticed in the witches forest. That should be everything then, let's get going."

Yuno uses his magic to create his usual wind eagle while Vanessa and I both get on our brooms. He doesn't look at me, just straight ahead, making my heart sink a little. I move toward Vanessa in hopes to start a conversation, but she is quieter than Yuno. I realize that it's selfish to ask her to take us to the witches forest, especially because of her past there, but this is the only option we have. Plus, I don't know if Yuno would have accepted going home without finding out what exactly this marking is. My hand moves on top of my sleeve and I clutch to it tightly, a knott beginning to form in my stomach. Letting out a shaky breath, my body begins to start feeling cold, the opposite of how it was at the base.

"We're getting closer" Vanessa finally speaks, starting to head down to the ground below. Yuno and I follow her, both landing gracefully on the grass. "Yuno put this over yourself and get on the broom with Y/n. If you use your spell, they'll sense your mana." Without making eye contact with him, I wait on my broom for him to get on. When he does, I start to fly up again and Vanessa starts to lead me into the forest. As we go in, some of the witches start whispering amongst themselves, looking at Vanessa and myself. Just as we start to fly farther in, a bunch of black birds come charging toward us. My eyes widen and I move to dodge them but they keep following me.

"Vanessa! What is this?!"

She narrows her eyes and motions for me to follow her deeper into the forest. The birds eventually stop following us and we both land in front of a building in the middle. Staring at the door in front of me, I wonder why as we got closer, the birds stopped following. She opens the door, revealing an older lady with a big hat and even bigger dress. Vanessa walks in confidently and stops in front of the lady, looking up at her as she sits.
