Chapter 18 - Royal Magic Knights Exam

Pretty long chapter haha. School is really kicking my ass and killing my creativity. How is it for you guys if you are doing school?

~A week later~

I let out a yawn as I try to wipe the sleepiness away from my eyes. I didn't get much sleep last night, I kept waking up and rolling around.

"Y/n? You look tired" Yuno comments, patting my head slightly 

"Huh? No, not really" I smile. He sighs, grabbing my hand and pulling me towards Mimosa and Klaus, who are getting ready to take the Royal Magic knights exam. As they speak amongst themselves, I find myself getting lost in my own thoughts as the sound around me starts to fade away. 

My night wasn't just restless, it was filled with what I would guess is memories of my past. Even so, I still can't get a clear image on who my real parents are, or why they abandoned me. I had also seen that same man who had given me the warning about going back to the Heart Kingdom.

Speaking of the Heart Kingdom, I wonder if anyone has actually realized that I'm gone. They must know that my family was killed, but are they certain I'm dead too? Who knows

"Y/n is everything okay?" Mimosa looks at me with concern

"Yeah you keep spacing out" Kaito flies up to look me in the eye, little arms crossed over his chest

"Really I'm good just thinking what I'm going to do the entire exam" I sigh. "I'm gonna be so bored"

They all look at each other, sighing before nodding their heads. I put on a smile as we get on our brooms and start flying to where we are going to meet for the exam. Mimosa, Yuno, and Klaus talk amongst themselves as I stay back, Kaito sitting on my shoulder

"Kaito"

"Hm?" 

"Did the previous owner of my grimoire live a calm life?"

He shakes his head. "With great power comes great responsibility, but also great danger. She was targeted almost half her life, almost always moving in some way"

"Did she....pass peacefully?"

"She did" I let out a breath of relief 

"Kaito...I've been having dreams about my past and some unknown man that is somewhere in the Heart Kingdom."

Kaito stiffens. "Can you describe him?"

"No" I stop for a second. "His face is blurred and it's the same with my parents"

"How often are you having these dreams?"

"It started a little after I joined Golden Dawn and it wasn't much, but they're getting more frequent"

He lets out a sigh. "After the exam, we should talk to Captain Vangeance about going back to see what's going on. If you're getting these dreams and warnings from this person we have to talk-"

"No." My firm response causes Kaito to furrow his brows. "It's too risky, especially because we still have to worry about eye of the midnight sun"

He rolls his eyes. "Which you and everyone else still has yet to tell me about"

"Oh right" I take a breath. "Eye of the Midnight Sun is a terrorist group that attacked the capital at one point. Apparently, Captain Yami and Asta have fought the leader and they, as well as the rest of the Black Bulls have fought two of their strongest members. They're trying to get the magic stones for who knows what"
