The Golden Heart (Yuno Grinberryall x reader)

Chapter 3 - First Mission

Ok I'm gonna just clarify this because a lot of people have been asking this and I've said it multiple times already, but this is a SEPARATE dungeon from the one in the show. I needed something for the plot to move forward and this was a the best I could think of at the time.  Now that that's clarified, happy reading~

My eyes flutter open and a yawn escapes my lips. I roll over, checking the time. 4:45am. I yawn again then sit up, looking at my grimoire that sits on my nightstand.

'First mission...I have everything covered, Captain William has my back and I'm with powerful squadmates.'

My mind traces back to the midnighted haired boy. Yuno. While going through town yesterday with Asta, Noelle, and Vanessa, I had heard about a rookie magic knight in Golden Dawn from the boonies. Asta in turn started to fill me in on his past with Yuno. How they grew up together in a church and how he was born with no mana, however Yuno was gifted with lots of it. I tie my h/c hair into a ponytail and start to change into my uniform. A breath escaped my lips as I finish putting on my coat and getting my broom and Grimoire.

'Stay calm Y/n...nothing will happen'

I close my door and start walking towards the courtyard were we agreed to meet. I see Mimosa already there with Yuno and sit next to her.

"Good morning Y/n! How do you like Golden Dawn so far?" She shoots me a gentle smile and I reply with one of my own

"I like it...it's just a little bit different than what I'm used to"

She nods, then clears her throat. "Forgive me if this is too forward, but how come you grew up on the streets?"

I let out a breath, remembering the story I came up with. "I remember having parents and a sibling for a little, but I think when I was 5, I was left on the street. I didn't know what to do and when I tried talking to people, they looked at me with disgust. I did what I had to do to survive."

She makes an 'O' shape with her mouth and Yuno turns towards us, proceeding to ask his own questions. "How did you come across Captain Vangeance?"

I laugh nervously "The Wizard king caught me in town and started to ask me things. After I explained my situation to him, he took me to go get my Grimoire, then called for Captain William"

Yuno looks at me, skepticism written all over his face. I try to breath normally, but start to panic as he starts to narrow his eyes at me. "I see...."

Mimosa lets out a forced laugh to kill the tension in the air. "Forgive us for intruding on your privacy."

I smile at her, then look up to the sky. The sun is starting to rise. Klaus comes out, fixing his classes, the takes out his Grimoire to make a carriage like mobile.

"Let's go" He steps in his carriage and the rest of us get on our brooms. Mimosa and both sit on ours while Yuno stands with his sylph on his shoulder. We ride in silence for a while as the sun starts to rise. It reminds me of back home when I would wake up and watch the sunrise with my little brother. He was 5 years younger than me and very shy, so when people would come over to the mansion, he would cling to me. I smile remembering my life as I take in the cool morning in.

"Is something wrong Y/n?" Mimosa snaps me out of my trance

"Just reminiscing" I smile at her

We arrive outside the dungeon and take a rest for a minute. Yuno leans along the wall as his sylph starts to fly around him, trying to get his attention. Mimosa takes out her grimoire and casts a spell to show us the layout of the dungeon.

"Wow Mimosa that's a really cool spell"

"Thanks Y/n! This point right here is where we are. Looks like there's no one else here, but there is a large amount of mana in this room" Klaus and I pay close attention, nodding our heads. We go inside, silence once again filling the air.
