Chapter 7 - Mission with Yuno

~a week later~

"Shadow takeover" I cast the spell again for the 5th time today. It's been a week since I started raining with Captain Yami and he's worked me to the bone every day. On the bright side, I've learned how to sense someone's Ki, I've improved my reaction time, and I have better control over this spell...

Although....

I can't cast it completely

I let out a series of pants while putting my hands on my knees. 

'Why can't I do this anymore? What's stopping me? I can control the amount of darkness, but after that it won't happen'

"DAMMIT!" I scream at the top of my lungs, rage clear in my voice

"Calm down kid, you were only able to do it the first time because you let you anger take over you. Darkness lives within negative emotions, it'll take a while before you can control it."

I let out a sigh. He's right. I let my anger get the best of me. Who knows what would have happened if anyone was there. Would I have killed them too?

"Try another spell" I nod my head and flip through my grimoire. My eyes scan faster and faster through the pages but none stick out

"Y/n" I whip my head around and see Yuno behind me

"Yuno? Do we have a mission?"

"Yeah. Just you and me though, the wizard king's request"

"Interesting" I turn to Captain Yami. "My apologies Captain Yami"

"Just go. I'm gonna go take a dump" I watch him walk away and a small smile forms on my face. I

"So are we just going to see the wizard king?" Yuno nods and I realize...Bell's been quiet this entire time. I look around not seeing her and I look up at Yuno.

"Where's Bell? She's been pretty quiet"

"Hiding in my bag. She's 'tired' apparently" 

"I see" Yuno and I hop on our brooms and fly towards the capital. A mission with just Yuno and myself? I'd be surprised if the mission isn't a complete disaster. Yuno and I both are very powerful, but also stubborn. I let out a sigh and see him looking at me with a confused facial expression.

"Do you know anything about the mission?" He shakes his head no. Great, we don't even know what we're getting into. Though, it's not like we could actually disobey the Wizard King. After getting to the castle, we hop off our brooms and walk towards Julius's office in silence. Bell flies out of Yuno's bag and sits on his shoulder and I sigh. 

'Why oh why would you do this to me god'

We knock on the door to the wizard king's office, hearing a somewhat audible 'come in' as I open the door. He smiles once seeing the two of us.

"Y/n, Yuno, always a pleasure"

"Good afternoon sir" I bow and Yuno does the same.

"What about me!" Bell screams causing me to sigh

"Oh you too, Bell, sorry I didn't see you" He smiles causing her to pout. "Anyways, I'm glad you two came so quick"

"What's this mission about?" Yuno asks and the Wizard king sighs

"Missing children, they've been disappearing at night and no one knows where they're going. It's been going on for a week now"

"Hmm" I place a hand under my chin. "How many a night?"

"From the reports, only one so 7 children total are missing"

"Where?" Yuno crosses his arms

The Wizard king takes a breath before responding. "Hage Village"

Yuno's eyes widen slightly at the mention of Hage Village. My mind traces back to the conversation I had with Asta a while ago. He said both him and Yuno came from a village in the boonies, could this be it? I decide not to ask about his response and allow the Wizard king to continue. 

"I chose to send you two for two reasons.  Yuno because you're from there, and Y/n because you're in the same squad, and second, from what William and Klaus have told me, you work well together"

Yuno and I exchange glances and both shrug at the same time. 

'I mean we've been paired together in literally everything since I've been in Golden Dawn'

"I don't know how long you guys will be there but take anything you know you'll need. You'll be flying on your brooms" We nod. "Once the situation is resolved report back here"

Yuno and I (plus Bell) excuse ourselves and start walking out of the castle. Yuno stays silent and so does Bell which kind of confuses me. He's from Hage village...does he not want to go back there? 

"Y/n" Yuno calls, gaining my attention. 

"Huh?"

"I need to get some things from the market before we go. You can come or I'll just meet you at headquarters"

"I'll go with you" I say without thinking

'wait why did I say yes wtf'

"Okay, then let's get going" Yuno starts walking down the stairs and I follow closely behind him. Bell makes faces at me from his shoulder makes faces at me and I roll my eyes in response. 

"Hey Yuno, I'll be back I need to check something" He nods his head

"Just be at the fountain in 10 minutes" 

I slip into a store and smile at the lady at the register. 

"Y/n nice to see you again" 

Before I made my way to Golden Dawn the day I met Asta, Noelle and Vanessa, I met this lady after slipping into her store to avoid interaction with anyone. She sells different teas that have healing properties, pain relieving properties, and relax your body.

"Did you want any tea today?" The old lady smiled 

"I'll have 3 bags of the healing tea, pain relieving tea, and relaxation tea"

She smiles and goes out back to get the tea.  She comes back out a few seconds later with the tea in a bag, handing it to me. I place the money on the table, sure to give her a bit extra.

"Keep the change. Thank you Miss Chiyo"

"Good luck on your mission dear" I wave goodbye and see Yuno already waiting at the fountain.

"Let's get going"

~At Golden Dawn~

I look through my bag, making sure I have everything I'll need in my bag. A few extra uniforms, the teas, and any hygiene stuff I will need. Yuno walks out and I send him a small smile.

"Ready?"

He nods and we both get on our brooms, starting to fly in the general direction of the village. After a while, I glance towards Yuno, who wears a serious expression, but there's something else in it too. Worry? 

"Yuno" His eyes slightly widen then looks at me. I fly closer to him so he can hear me better.

"Forgive me if this is too forward...but you seem kind of anxious going to Hage Village. You're from there right? Is there something wrong with it?"

Yuno stays quiet for a moment, then proceeds to speak. "It's not that there's anything wrong with it. It's just...I'm a little worried I guess. About the kids of the church."

"I see...I'm sure they'll be okay. They have Sister Lily? That's her name right?"

"Asta told you about her?"

"Yeah" I chuckle lightly "He said he wanted to marry her"

Yuno turns his head, but I see a small smile form on his face. A smile of mine forms on my face and we both start to fly a little bit faster. Within 15 minutes, we arrive.

"Here we are" Yuno speaks. "Hage Village"
