Chapter 19 - Another Mission

~The Next Day~

"I don't know why you keep coming if you already have good control of you dark magic" Captain Yami blows another puff of smoke before looking directly into my eyes

"I figure I can get a good spare with you" I shrug. "Being able to land a hit on a magic knights captain is something to be proud of don't you think?"

He rolls his eyes. "Don't get cocky kid I can still beat you're ass"

I smirk. "I'm not trying to be, I'm just simply saying that I want to keep training"

"You really know how to push some buttons kid"

We're about to start sparing when

"Y/n" I mentally groan and turn around to see my boyfriend with his annoying companion. I force a smile on my face  

"Yuno" My eyebrow twitches slightly. "to what do I owe this pleasure?"

"We have a mission"

This time I actually let out the groan. I was so close to getting Yami to fight me. 

"When do we leave" I pout 

He rolls his eyes at my childish antics. "Preferably now"

I turn back to Captain Yami. "Sorry Captain Yami, looks like we'll have to postpone this match"

"Guess so" 

With that, Yuno and I get on our brooms and start flying away from the base. "So what's this mission about anyways"

"There's a village around the border that is dealing with robbers" 

"That's it?" I cross my arms, starting to pout again. "My match with Captain Yami was interrupted because of some robbers? Couldn't you have gone alone or took Mimosa?"

"Captain Vangeance specifically asked for you and I"

I let out a sigh as Kaito flies on my shoulder. "Then these robbers shouldn't be ordinary if he's sending two of the most powerful magic knights in his squad"

"I'm not sure. Let's just get this done quickly"

"Agreed"

Yuno and I arrive at the border 20 minutes later and see the village almost in shambles. Some of the buildings are broken, others completely crushed. Something doesn't seem right here. The villagers stare at us, almost as if they were afraid. 

"Hey Yuno-"

"I know" He whispers. "Something doesn't feel right"

We both continue to walk around seeing all the villagers covered in dirt, looking for what I would assume would be food or some kind of clothing. A young women with two children sits along the stone wall of a house, her arms wrapped around the both of them. 

"Ma'am, may I ask what happened here?"

"who-who are you" Fear is written all over her face. 

"May name is Y/n and this is Yuno. We're here on a mission sent by the Captain of Golden Dawn. Can you tell me what happened?"

She looks down at her children who hug her tighter. "The village was attacked a few days ago. A bunch of people dressed in cloaks and said that the world needed to be purified. That humans were to blame for everything and that we would pay. They killed some of us and destroyed some of our buildings, but that was 2 weeks ago. They haven't bothered us since, but almost every night we've been attacked and robbed" She shutters, tears beginning to fall down her face. "My husband died in an attack..."
