Chapter 27 - Battle for the Kingdom

Kaito and I begin to run up to the palace as quickly as we can knowing that even a seconds delay could cause even more destruction. Up ahead we notice a spatial portal open up and immediately defend ourselves just in case it is an enemy. To our dismay, Finral and Captain Yami come out, starting to run up the stairs. The two of us pick up our pace to catch up to them and they notice out presence.

"Captain Yami, Finral great to see you are ok."

"Oh Y/n" Finral responds

"What the hell happened to you?" Captain Yami retorts, causing me to click my tongue in response

"Not important...but what's the plan?"

"The huge hole in the palace was Langris's doing, I think he's been taken over by an elf" Finral speaks as he let's out breaths of exhaustion

'Even after all that he's still worried about his brother...bless your soul Finral'

"I honestly couldn't care less about these royals" Captain Yami starts again. "But this Ki..."

"There's a lot of them in the castle" Kaito interjects. "Y/n and I could sense them when we got here"

"Who are you again?" Yami gives a confused and slightly disgusted look to Kaito, earning an angered expression from the sylph

"For your information old man, I'm the king of the element spirits" He scoffs, crossing his arms in the process

"Who are you calling old man! I'll kill you"

"You want a piece of me?!"

"Guys!" I yell, having had enough of their bickering "Not really the time to be arguing about this"

We reach the top of the stairs, meeting the eyes of several members of Golden Dawn. My breath hitches as I look at my squadmates who are completely overtaken by the elves.

"Hylia! Have you really come back to us?!" One shouts. I roll my eyes in response as Captain Yami looks at me confused.

"Who the hell is Hylia?"

"The elf that was supposed to be resurrected in my body I guess." I shrug

"Why are you talking to them Hylia!? You know what the humans did to us"

An irk mark forms on my forehead and I pull out my grimoire. "For the last time I'm not Hylia I'm Y/n! Light magic: Light arrows!"

One of the elves fires their own attack, causing us to each dodge in a separate direction. Finral opens a spatial portal, allowing Yami to attack almost next to one of the elves. He dodges and other comes to him, but Yami uses his sword to defend himself. One of the elves comes running towards me, a devilish smirk on his face

"Looks like I'll have to teach you a lesson Hylia" He throws fire at me which I immediately put out using water while Kaito attacks him from the side. Letting out a breath shoot more light arrows as we try to defend against their numbers.

"They have so much magical power! And there's like a dozen of them!" Finral exclaims, sweat dripping down his face

"Well we're gonna have to fight them to get into the palace and save the king" I mentally vomit as I think of him

"Dark magic: Dark binding!" One of the elves gets caught in the binding as I smirk and throw them in a wall, knocking them out. "That's one down"

"Y/n get to the throne room and see if you can get anyone out of there. We'll catch up with you after this is done" Yami commands

"Right!" I nod at him them, then turn my attention to Kaito. He nods back as we both jump up to the next level of the castle and start running again. A wave of negative mana flows through the air causing my breath to hitch for a second and I exchange glances with Kaito
