Alex paced around her room for a bit after she had gotten ready, feeling nervous and anxious about going down to the cafeteria. She was actively avoiding Cole, Isaac and Johnny as well as putting distance between her and her friends. She sighed and quickly exited her room, practically running to the cafeteria. She walked in the room to see Hermione, Nathan, Luna, Neville and Harry all sat at a table. She quickly walked over to the table as her friends all looked shocked to see her. Nathan quickly moved over making space for her.
"Alex, glad to see you." Neville was the first to speak, giving her a large smile as she gave him a small one in return.
"Yeah Alex, glad to see you eating here and Nathan's not bringing you up food." Harry joked as she let out a small smile again.
"Uh, glad to be here." Alex awkwardly said before Nathan served her food on her plate and she quickly ate it as the friends chatted around her. After she ate, she was quick to want to leave.
"Uh, i'm going to go now, see you guys later." Alex spoke before quickly getting up and leaving to go back to her room. She did what the Headmaster had asked but she still felt anxious all the time.
At the lunch table, Hermione let out a loud sigh.
"What is going on with her?" She asked and everyone sighed, shrugging.
"Nathan, do you know why she's been so distant?" Harry asked as Nathan gave a light nod.
"I promised her I wouldn't say anything, maybe try asking her." Nathan told them as Hermione gave him a look.
"Go talk to her then Hermione." Nathan sighed, "I shall." Hermione responded before getting up and walking in the same direction that Alex left.
Alex made it back to her room and sat on her bed, looking out her favourite window for not even two minutes when Hermione hurried through the door.
"Alex, we need to talk." Hermione said, quickly taking a seat next to her on her bed.
"Hermione... what's this about?"
"I'm really worried about you. What's going on? You've practically not left this room in a week, you've been crying, distant, disengaged, I'm really worried about my best friend. Please just open up to me, let me be there for you." Hermione pleaded as tears started welling up in Alex's eyes again.
"Hermione... I have to tell you something..."
//
"Alex, I'm so sorry you went through that and that I wasn't there for you" Hermione said, tears running down her face after Alex explained what happened.
"No Hermione, you can't blame yourself or anyone but Brett for what happened. I'm sorry if I've been distant. The headmaster paid me a visit this morning." Alex told her.
"What did she say?"
"She removed Brett from the school. She also made me promise to start eating in the cafeteria and go to classes."
"I'll help you catch up as well, I've been secretly doing your homework for english." Hermione said as Alex let out a small laugh.
"Of Course you did 'Mione. Thank you for being so supportive with me, I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner, it's just really hard to talk about. I love you Hermione, I'm glad I have you." Alex sighed, leaning into Hermione's side.
"Don't apologize, I'm sorry I didn't realize there was something really wrong before, you didn't deserve to be suffering in silence. I love you too Alex, I'm lucky for you as well." Hermione told the girl.
"Would you mind telling the rest of the friend group what happened? And Cole. I don't think I can look any of them into the eye and explain that, it's so embarrassing." Alex sighed.
