The next morning, Alex made her way to breakfast later than usual as she spent time that morning getting ready, taking a full shower as well as doing her hair and makeup She entered the great hall to see Hermione, Ginny, Ron, George, and Harry all sat together.
"Good morning guys!" Alex cheerily said, slipping in on the bench between Ginny and Hermione, only catching the last bit of what Hermione was saying.
"I can't believe you guys!"
"You can't believe who about what?" Alex asked, serving herself some breakfast.
"Oh, you don't know?" Ginny asked, turning to face the brunette as she sent Ron a dirty look.
"I don't know about what?" Alex questioned.
"About the boys and their stupid deal." Hermione told her as Alex grew increasingly confused.
"What are you two on about?" Alex asked, turning to look between the two girls.
"Leave it Hermione!" Harry quickly said.
"Zip it!" Ron added on, desperately looking between the two girls.
"No! You zip it! Ginny, Hermione, tell me." Alex pleaded at the two.
"You do not want to even know Alex." George tried to assure her as she ignored him.
"Alex, they all fancy you." Hermione deadpanned as all the boys began to avoid her eye.
"Not me! Leave me out of this. No offense of course Alex." George grinned at her as Alex quickly dismissed his comment.
"What?" Alex asked before turning to Hermione, "Who are 'they'?"
"Well, Ron, Fred, Harry, and Cedric." Hermione began.
"We also have a theory about Draco but we arent sure-" Ginny began before Harry cut her off.
"Shut up! Both of you!"
"Yeah..." George trailed off, wanting to defuse the tension, "Maye we should just drop it."
"No..." Alex shook her head, "We aren't going to just drop it, is this true?"
"Uh-" Ron started to stammer, trying to come up with an excuse or a lie.
"God Alex, yes it is. They even made a deal that no one was allowed to ask you out and that you had to be the one to make the first move." Hermione further explained.
"But Cedric asked me out? He even called it a date?" Alex asked, confused by the situation.
"Exactly..." Harry trailed off.
"Exactly what?" Alex asked him.
"That bloody git broke the deal!" Ron exclaimed, looking up from his food.
"You guys better be joking!" Alex yelled out, not being able to process the information thrown at her. She thought this entire time they were just being extra good friends to her.
"This, sadly, isn't a joke Alex. I tried telling them you would not believe it and you are too oblivious to see the signs that they like you." Hermione shrugged, "No offense of course Alex, you just choose to see the good in people."
"You know what...? I think I am done with breakfast for now. I'll see you guys later." Alex quickly said, standing up and walking out of the great hall, passing by Fred who was making his way in.
Ron and Harry sighed, knowing the deal was out in the open and that Alex must have been feeling tons of different emotions. Probably anger, or sadness, and obviously very awkward. Fred unknowingly took her spot on the bench.
