It was currently New Year's eve and Alex was excited to celebrate with her friends, especially now that everyone was on much better terms. Molly and Arthur had left the kids alone as they decided to go and visit Charlie.
Alex and Ginny were getting ready in Ginny's room as Alex had decided she would wear a little black dress and Ginny decided to wear a dark blue one. The girls made their way downstairs and saw everyone sat around the living room.
Ginny and Alex walked outside and took a seat on the steps, wanting to watch the stars as they had predicted a beautiful starry night and Alex had grown an interest in the stars and anything to do with the sky ever since befriending Draco as he was into Astrology and the stars. He taught her everything she knew about it, being able to point out different constellations easily. They wanted to enjoy some girl time before they knew the night would end with the boy's rowdiness. The girls sat in a calm silence for a bit, enjoying the stars as the boys had other ideas of fun inside.
"Alright you lot, we should set up another deal, don't you think?" Fred asked as Ron and Harry nodded with George, once again, an innocent bystander.
"What are the expectations of this deal?" Harry asked, wanting a further explanation as a smirk grew on Ron's face, just waiting to say something cocky.
"Well, I think I've already gone the farthest with her so I win already."
"Yeah, and then you screamed in her face that you hated her and proceeded to hook up with another girl, in front of her." George snorted, rolling his eyes at the three boys in front of him.
"Yeah mate, we've all kissed her. You're not special." Fred said as he rolled his eyes. "Anyways, I thought we should totally leave it up to Alex and see who she pursues, who she wants to hang out with. Obviously, we can still do all the friendly things we currently do, but also if she would want to kiss or hook up in any way, we do. Simple as that. Except this time, no one tells her, or Ginny or Hermione either, those pesky snitches."
"And none of you can get upset with Alex, you guys are basically setting her up at this point." George defended his friend as the others nodded.
"That's fine with me." Ron agreed as Harry also nodded.
"I just want to remind you, and please remember I said this. This stupid plan will blow up in your faces." George laughed at them.
The rest of the night was spent with the group of friends and siblings enjoying their time together, dancing, laughing, and playing games with one another without worrying about school and just enjoying the last bits of Christmas break.
Before she knew it, a dreadful Alex and her friends were on the Hogwarts express, heading back to school as the break finally ended. Alex, Hermione, Harry, and Ron all sat in a compartment when she saw Draco briskly walk by.
Alex was quick to stand, grabbing her small wrapped present for him before telling her friends she would be right back, and followed him down the hall. After looking in every compartment, she found him sitting alone. She slid the door open and let herself in before she sat across him.
"Alex." Draco nodded, not feeling like he could look her in the eye.
"I got you something for Christmas." She told him, grabbing his hand and placing it in his as he went to quickly open it to see a silver snake ring that would wrap around his finger and he absolutely loved it. It was his favorite gift he got that year after spending a very cold and distant Christmas at the Malfoy Manor.
"Thank you Alex..." He softly said, giving her a smile before reaching into his jacket pocket and handing her a small envelope.
She opened it to see a ring with a little lion's head on it. They both let out small laughs at their matching gifts.
