The party was in full swing and to the surprise of no one, Alex was drunk off her ass. She was dancing around with Hermione when her eyes met Nathans. She walked over to him, almost falling when she was about a foot away from him, quickly grabbing onto his arms for support.
"Woah there Alex, you got to be careful." He laughed at her drunken state.
"Why aren't you drinking?" She asked as he shrugged.
"It's a lot more fun for me to watch you drunk off your ass instead of being drunk myself." He told her.
"Come dance with me, hm?" She asked and grabbed his hand before he could respond and pulled him to where everyone else was dancing.
He was quick to grab her hand and spun her around as they danced together. The two laughed around together as Ron and Harry watched from afar, the jealously radiating off of them.
"Nathan, can we go talk?" She asked, leading him out of the common room and up to her dorm. He sat on her bed, an amused smirk on his face when he noticed Alex mumbling to herself.
"You have something to say, Alex?" He chuckled at her.
"Why did you say that the first night I met you?" Alex asked, plopping on the bed next to him.
"I was mostly teasing you but I was just getting to know you, I didn't want to be counted out just yet." He shrugged.
"And? How do you feel?" She asked as he sent her a pointed look.
"Alex, you have about 3 guys out there who probably hate the fact that I am even in your room." He sighed, "How do you feel about me?"
"I am really, really, glad that we met. You've become one of my best friends, don't tell Hermione I said that but I think we match so much better as just friends. Like a twin flame." She quietly told him as he nodded.
"I agree. I just didn't want to tell you first in case you started crying. I noticed girls do that when they are drunk." He laughed as she playfully swatted him.
Alex and Nathan truly did mean what they said. They both recognized they needed each other as just friends, especially with everything they would go through in the future that they weren't aware of. They would quickly become best friends.
Alex sighed happily as she stood up, facing him who stayed seated. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders as they were now equal eye level.
"Besties for life?" She drunkenly asked.
"Besties for life." He said, giving her an amused look as she grabbed his arm and lead them both back into the common room. She bid a small 'see you later' to Nathan before making her way over to Fred and George.
"Fancy a dance, boys?" She asked, twirling herself around.
"Yes! There's the party animal we all know and love!" Fred teased, grabbing her arm and spinning her around.
The three of them danced around for a while before her and the twins had some shots.
Alex made her way to Harry as he was, of course, talking about quidditch. She soon drunkenly interrupted his conversation, taking a seat next to him.
"Harold, you could have been in so much trouble for using the liquid luck on Ron!" She scolded as he let out a laugh, bringing the small vile out of his pocket and showing the fullness to the girl as it turned to a look of shock.
"Oh, but I suppose the confundus charm is so much better, hm?" Harry hummed, smirking at the girl as she had a small smirk of her own before playfully swatting his chest.
