"Good morning grade 11's." Miss Motaung says.
"Morning ma'am." I don't usually greet back, but for her, anyday.
"Okay, so grade 11's as you heard I'm new, but I've seen how things work in other schools, so for the time being and depending on your behaviour, you can choose your own sits." She says.
I deadass grab Thandile as fast as I can and take her to the back. We sit at the table on the right hand side.
I'm so glad these tables are the double ones and not the singular ones.
"You move fast hey." Thandile says then I look at her and smile.
"It's the only way you will get something you want in this world." I say then she looks at me.
"You want me?" She asks then I smile.
"Do you want me to want you?" I say then she laughs.
"If you want me to be wanted." She says then I laugh.
"Wooow." I say laughing and she joins.
"I hope you happy with your sits, because that will be your sit for the whole school year unless I move you." Miss Motaung says.
I lean forward to where Aya is sitting. "Like I said. Imma enjoy this year." I say then she looks at me.
"Bruh me too." She says looking at Akhona who is sitting next to her.
"So what subjects did you take?" I ask looking at Thandile.
"Maths, Physical Science, Life Sciences and EGD." She says then I nod.
"Your smart like that?" I ask.
"Aviwe, I've been in top ten with you for the last two years." She says then I look at her. Damn I have to start looking at the people around me.
"Oh. What number was I?" I ask then she laughs.
"I forgot about 2018, but 2019 you were number one, and I remember cause I was number two, then grade ten you got me by one percent." She says then I look at her.
"So it will be a competition this year." I say then she nods.
"Good luck." She says.
"I think you'll need it more than me." I say looking forward.
"Oh cocky already?" She asks then I laugh.
"Not really. Thing is in grade 8 and 9 I wasn't studying nor doing my homework, I just remembered what was taught to me in class, so imagine if I actually study." I say then she looks at me smiling.
"You know what the crazy thing is?" She asks then I look at her.
"I do the exact same thing." She says laughing then I nod my head.
"Ayt, let the results speak for themselves." I say then she agrees with me.
"Okay settle down." Ma'am says then we all look at her.
"So as you know, it's my first day here, and I'd love to know each and every one of you." She says.
"So if you guys don't mind we gonna start on the first row till the last and you'll tell me your names and something about yourselves." She says. Ahhh this is some grade one shit.
The first person starts and it goes on. It reaches Aya and Akhona's table.
"I'm Ayabulula, but you can call me Aya. My favourite colour is black and my spirit animal is a cheater."
"Thank you Aya." Ma'am says then Aya nods and sits down.
"My name is Akhona. Favourite colour is Violet and my spirit animal is a Jaguar." She says.
