We had been cuddling for a while now. Just looking out at the sunrise. It was nice, until Louie shifted a bit and turned to look at me, he planted both of his warms hands against each side of my face.

Even I knew what was coming next.

Not a kiss.

A question.

No.

Not the marriage question, either.

I close my eyes and braced myself. I had thought long and hard on how I would answer him.

I just hope it is enough.

"Why didn't you tell me about Doofus and Theo?" Came the question he was forced to ask.

I didn't try to look away, but instead, I looked straight into his concerned and worried eyes. He used his left thumb and rubbed it against my cheek.

The electrical spark between us ignited like when he first met and I open my eyes and sighed deeply, melting into the sensation.

"I -. I'm not that same girl as two years ago. Louie. I can handle myself." I say, not in a mean way, more in a confident woman way.

Louie blinked.

"Athena." He began. "I'm not the same kid you met two years ago. You've changed me. Back then -. I would have done anything for you. Hell. I'd kill for you. Still will in fact. But -. I'd always want to protect you, Athena. You are my life. My everything. I wish you wouldn't keep stuff from me. Then that way, I can help you. I want to help you. Athena. Please. Let me." He finished his speech, his eyes never leaving mine.

My heart squeezed in quilt for keeping things from him, and for what I had planned to do to change this prophecy so that everyone I care about will be happier in the end. I can't tell him that but I can tell him what Goldie told me, and I did.

His eyes widen at what I told him. I left the part about her wanting to kill me and all that nastiness. I have a feeling he was really close to Goldie, and the last thing I want to do was to do is cause any trouble with him and his family because of me.

For what I had planned. He was going to need his family, and Eve more then ever.

"So... You are royalty?" Louie asked, after I was finished.

"According to Goldie I am. I have to result this Game Master and find out more. Problem is he's in the demon realm. " I replied. I hesitated before I continued. "Don't get mad." I tell him, and gently took the hand he was using his thumb with to caress my cheek. "I asked Liam to look into it for me."

"WHAT!" Louie shouted, he jerked away from me making me recoil from the motion, then, realizing that I was probably flash backing to my abuse then slowly reached out for me and pulled me close. He put his hand on the back of my head and guided me to his shoulder.

Tears swelled in my eyes as I buried my face in his hoodie and hugged him back.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled." Louie whispered.

I didn't say anything.

"I want you to know. Athena. No matter what. You can tell me anything. You don't have to be afraid. I'm here for you." Louie says, and I feel him playing with the heart shaped hair pin in my hair as he talked. "Always. I promise."

I choke back a sob and nod against his shoulder.

Suddenly the door flew open and Violet barged in, making us jump apart, a huge smile on her face.

"You two have got to see this." She told us, and grabbed Louie by the arm, and linked hers through mine and hauled us out the door and down the stairs.

Lena and Webby were crowded around Eve. I glance around, Liam wasn't no where to be seen. I sighed with relief at that. Last thing I need was for Louie to face stomp him like he had with Theo that day he raped me. I shuddered at the memory but quickly recovered with Violet nudged me and pointed.

Louie and I followed her gaze and watched in amazement as Eve slowly stood up on her own, and started walking. Lena and Webby looked up and grinned at us. Webby slowly turned Eve around to face us.

Eve's eyes lit up when she saw us and started for us. One foot at a time. She stumbled and fell once, but she didn't cry, instead, she just picked herself up and started again. Just as she was about a couple feet across from us, she stretched her arms out to me.

I smile at her and knelt down, and did the same thing.

"Come on, my little sunset." I tell her. "Come to Mommy."

She shrieked with excitement and took a couple more steps before she literally fell into my arms. Laughing and cooing.

I beam at her and picked her up.

You'd think after how Eve had come into this world, I would recent her. Maybe even hate her.

But it was the exact opposite.

I adore my daughter, and love her as much as I loved everyone in that room that day.

I look around at them.

Webby. Lena. Violet. Louie, and Eve.

I assumed Dewey and Zerha were having alone time too. Like me and Louie had been.

To bad.

They missed the most exciting moment just now.

Oh well.

But they all deserved to be happy in the God's forsaken apocalyptic world of ours.

A world in which very soon, I can no longer be apart of.

I've done made my decision on this.

I'm keeping my promise to myself, as well as the love of my daughters life.

No matter what.

"That's my girl." Louie said, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Eve is just as strong and smart as her Mom." Louie adds, looking back at me. His eyes sparkling with love for the both of us. "Mommy is, isn't she? Right Eve?" Louie asked, tearing his eyes away from my watery ones of joy.

"Mommy. Strong!" Eve says suddenly, making all of us stare at her.

She giggled and wrapped her tiny arms around my neck.

Yeah. I guess you'd have to be strong, in a world like this.

But you can always find some spark of light, and I was lucky enough to find mine.
