Louie runs into my room.
Wow. So he's only worried when I'm sick?
"Zehra?! What's wro-" He cuts himself off when he sees me glaring at him and crossing my arm in my bed. "Ah fuck."
"Sit." I order. He waits for a second to see if I'm really mad, but then sits on the edge of my bed after he closes the door, avoiding eye contact. He rests his head on his hand.
"Explain." I say and start shaking again. I squeeze my jaw. I am NOT letting Louie think I'm weak right now. He'll use it.
He runs a hand through his bangs. "You talked with Eve..." He looks at me. "Didn't you?"
I continue to stare at him, waiting for him to answer.
LOUIE POV
"Didn't you?" I ask.
She continues to glare at me, and I notice how pale she is. Her eyes are shiny, as if she's about to cry, but she's just sick, and they flicker blue sometimes.
She's shaking, but trying to conceal it, along with her chattering teeth. Her cheeks and tip of her nose is red, and it's like she's struggling to stay awake.
"Fine." I remove my hand from my head from my hand and sit up taller. "Ask away."
She sniffles and wets her lips. "Why are you sending Eve to school? You KNOW she'll get bullied for how smart she is."
I mentally curse at myself. I forgot about that bit... She's got the mind of a 20 year old, right now.
Zehra uncrosses her arms, and her shakes become even more visible. "And not to mention boys will-" She stops her self and coughs.
"Zehra..." I place my hand on her forehead. God, she's burning up. "Are you sure you want to talk about this right now?"
She narrows her eyes at me. "Yes. Answer me."
I sigh and sit back on my spot. Where is Dewey with the medicine? He said Zehra was sick, but he didn't mention she was THIS sick! He needs to hurry up...
"I don't like the way the two look at each other..." I mumble.
Zehra scoffs and clenches her hand, stopping herself from ripping her hair out from her head. "Louie..." She says, her voice tense. "Matt is here to PROTECT Eve. If you let her go to school, who will save her from the other guys? Hmm?!"
UgHhHhH! "TEACHERS?!" I snap back.
Her expression softens. "Louie. You and I both know teachers don't help. Not with bullies. Not with these problems..."
I whine, look down at my lap, and rub my head, moving to my neck, almost choking me. "I know..."
I look up from my lap and meet Zehra's concerned eyes. "What do I do...?"
Zehra takes a deep shaky breath, but then coughs again. After she calms down, she shakes her head and looks at me. "If you think it's best, and will benefit her, send her to school. But I will not support you when you have an angry daughter to deal with."
I whine and flop onto her bed, laying my head on her lap and frown. "Being a parent is hard." I say in a sad voice.
Zehra nods slightly and play with my hair. "I know, Lou. It happens to the best of us." She says with a smile.
I roll my eyes and close my eyes. "Can I die here?"
When she doesn't reply and her hand stops playing with my hair, I open my eyes to see her glaring at me.
"No. Get up, drag ass." She says and tries to lift me off her lap.
I laugh and get off and pass her the cup of water on her bed stand. She drinks and gives it back to me, and I place it on the table again.
"Rest. I'll take care of my stubborn daughter." I say with an eye roll.
She laughs and before I can leave the room, she calls out to me. "You gotta admit, Lou. They're pretty cute together!"
I growl and glare at her and she just smirks as I leave her room, shutting the door behind me.
