Chapter 54- Zehra

MATT POV

I come downstairs to see no one downstairs...

A groan escapes my throat. 

Yeah. Zehra got mad... didn't she?

Did her powers activate...? 

But she knows how to control them now. It took a while, but I'd say she's mastered them. Even though they can cause some serious problems, it's not often. She mostly uses them to scare us, and it works... but...

I guess Louie didn't get the hint today. 

I don't blame him. I messed up.

Big time...

At least Zehra can control her powers...

I can't. 

Why I got a fucking WOLF'S TAIL, I don't know. All I know is it has something to do with me and Eve imprinting. What the hell is that, though?! 

The book Mak gave me said it made us "bond" emotionally or something, but... I feel as though we need each other in a deeper way than that.

Call it what you want.

Love,

Loneliness,

But... 

I need this kid. I'd give my life for her is she wants me to. 

I'll kill anyone for her, if she asks.

For some reason, I feel as though I NEED to make her happy.

But not like the way Emma and I do.

ugh...

Emma. 

The look on her face tells me right now that I need to take Eve and go hide.

She will come for her... and I'm afraid of what she'll do.

Eve doesn't know much, if anything about the prophecy. Emma could use that and manipulate her and use her...

That will not happen. I won't let it.

She doesn't know it's Eve, thankfully, but I know it won't take long for her to find out... Emma is very resourceful and has  her ways...

Spies, gadgets, spells, whatever! She'll find Eve, and when she does, she won't go without her.

So I'll be ready. To fight for Eve, protect her, be everything she needs and wants. 

Just as long as Emma never gets to take Eve.

I-

I don't know what I'd do if my one true friend left me...

Athena sighs beside me. "They're gone." She points out. "That's why Louie came up."

I run my hand through my bangs to calm myself down.

"Athena." I start. "The prophecy is coming. You know it, I know it. We all know it."

I turn to face her, her blue eyes showing me not to do this here, but I frankly don't care.

"But the problem is, no one is making a plan. Emma wants Eve. Now, what are we gonna do about it?"

She takes a shaky breath to stall for an answer. Soon, she speaks up. "We're gonan need to tell her everything. She needs to know what's happen-"

I cut her off. "NO! NOT EVERYTHING EVERYTHING! It'll break her! We'll have to do it slowly, little by little. She's just 5!"

Athena growls at that. "No. She's not. She's 2 weeks."

I roll my eyes and try to calm myself. "Athena, I don't CARE if you don't want your baby to slow down in her growing phase! SHE CAN'T! AND YOU'RE MAKING HER FEEL RESPONSIBLE! THEO'S USING THAT TO HIS ADVANTAGE! CAN'T YOU SEE THROUGH THAT THICK HEAD OF YOURS?! You NEED to understand that she's special and different, and DEAL with it!"

... Emphasis on 'try'.

Athena looks taken a back from my words, but regains her former self. "I know that Matt. I'm just worried for my loved ones. You can understand that, can't you?" She snaps. "After all, you and Eve seem to care for each other quite a lot." 

I give her a look of disgust. "SHE'S FIVE!"

"Not for long." Athena says back.

Actually, she has a point...

A blush rises to my cheeks at the thought of Eve when she's older.

But I shake it off. 

"Whatever. That's not the point." I say, blowing the idea off. "We need to come up with a plan."

Her glare on me softens and she sighs. "Fine. Bit by bit, we'll tell her everything... And then when the time comes, we'll think of what to do with Zehra and I's part of the prophecy."

I feel my heart clench.

That's right...

Zehra and Athena still have to fight, and we haven't found another solution! 

I- I don't want to loose anyone.

Not again.

LIAM POV

Oh, miss me?

I thought so.

Yep. I'm still here.

And I'm listening in the conversation with Athena and Matt.

"And then when the time comes, we'll think of what to do with Zehra and I's part of the prophecy."  I hear Athena say in the other room.

Luckily, me and Athena already have a plan for that. 

She's just too much of a chicken to say it.

She wants me to kill her... so Zehra doesn't have to.

No one should have to worry about killing someone they love because they've been told 'that's what's gonna happen.' 

The future isn't what we expect.

That's what I've learned...

Matt's got a point.

Emma will come for the girl Matt imprinted with, and when she finds out it's Eve, who knows what she'll do?

It's best for Eve to know so she can prepare. 

I feel bad keeping this from Zehra. 

She just got engaged, got yelled at by her close friend, AND kicked out of his house, didn't get to say hi to her little brother, and has been defending me all this time.

And how do I repay her?

By keeping a secret that can change the whole world's fate.

Yep.
