Chapter 50- Vacation Part 5

ZEHRA POV

Finally... A real laugh.

Not from me, I laughed enough today... but Athena.

I made a joke about Louie and she started dying of laughter. I joined in laughing, and the guys come in, looking around. 

When Dewey catches me laughing he runs and jumps on top of me, showing me with tickles, making me laugh louder.

Athena shakes her head, along with Louie. He sits next to Athena and hugs her as she leans on him. 

While me and Dewey are acting like children. 

Dewey stops tickling me before my powers activate. "Alright guys, I really wanna see the firework show tonight!!!"

He says sitting next to me, instead of ON me. 

I gasp. "YES!" I say gripping Dewey's bare shoulders. "Guys!" I say looking at the two. "You have to come!! I heard there's going to be a guy proposing!"

Athena and Louie exchange a look, then look back at me. "Wouldn't miss it for the world..." They both say at the same time, then laugh.

--LATER--

I hold Athena's hand as the Dewey goes on the stage, confusing me more than anything...

He fixes the microphone and waves at the crowd... where I am.

He taps the microphone and speaks. "Thanks guys. Tonight's very special!! And... I would like for my girlfriend to come up here..." He looks at my eyes, and everyone around looks at me, too.

I have never felt more sick, but I get up anyway, with people cheering for me... for some unknown reason.

He kisses my cheek and fiddles with something in pocket. I hold back a laugh. It's probably some sand.

Out of nowhere, music starts...

Dewey sings, and every time he says "mine", fireworks explode in the sky.

But not just ANY fireworks...

The word "mine" spelled over his head...!

I stare at the sky in awe as it glows with each colorful explosion.

Dewey watches me with awe, and laughs when the audience sings along with him.

I look in the audience to see Louie and Athena dancing together.

Finally, when we get to the lyrics: 

"I'll turn you to a bride,"

A big finale of fireworks happen behind me, then something suppppeerrr weird happens...

"DISTRACTION!" One of them says.

I stare at it, looking in the sky, maybe it's hiding something...?

While I'm looking at the smokey sky, I hear people yelling at me to turn around.

When I do... well, all I can say is...

Holy. Shit.

LOUIE POV

I watch as my older brother is on his knees, holding out the ring I had gotten for him to purpose with.

Zerha's eyes were as round as the blue diamonds embedded into the band.

"YES!" Zerha answers before Dewey could even get the question out. She wrapped her arms around Dewey's neck and kissed him then, pulling away so that Dewey can put the ring on her finger.

The crowd, (me included) cheered for them.

I glance over at Athena.

I could tell she was forcing a smile, and as she leans onto me I can feel her muscles tense.

Something was definitely bothering her.

The question she asked me on the beach still weighed on my mind, betting and gambling did not seem to help my fear that Athena was still keeping something from me

Rather it was for my own good, or to protect me, I only hope that she could find it in her to at least talk to someone about what was bothering her.

Hell.

Even talking to someone like Liam or Matt would make me feel better.

"Wanna get something to eat?" I ask her, as more random music started to play.

Dewey and Zerha came over to us as they made their way through the crowd of whistles and shouts of congratulations followed them.

"Or dance?" I ask her once they made it up to us.

"Did you two know about this?" Zerha asked, letting go of Dewey's hand and went over to hug Athena.

"It was Louie's idea to purpose to you, he bought the ring and everything." Dewey told her, beaming over at me.

"Consider this your engagement party slash vacation." I tell her, punching her slightly on the shoulder, "Cause when it comes to your honeymoon," I glance over Dewey and snickered, "you are on your own."

"Meh..." Dewey replied, waving off his remark. "I already have something planned for that." He said, pulling Zerha away from hugging Athena to claim her mouth.

I roll my eyes.

Athena POV

I'm happy for Zerha.

Really, I am.

It's just...

Thinking of her and Dewey, was making me think about my future with Louie, and if I even had a future with him in it.

I can't help but stay tense through out the party, I declined the dancing and went to the refreshment table instead, leaving Louie to mingle with the rest of the crowd, but I could tell he was looking at me with more concern and worry.

Why can't I just let go of my fears and just be happy?

Even when it was as something simple as Zerha's happiness?

Why can't -.

"My Queen." Said a voice from beside me.

Images of Doofus Drake flashes through my mind, making me freeze, but all I see is a red eyed boy.

I relaxed a bit, until he did a slight bow to me.

I glance over at Dewey, Zerha, and Louie.

Dewey, of course, being oblivious with his surroundings, but Louie and Zerha were both looking towards us with alarm

"Zaylen." I said, in a clam voice, somehow knowing his name even though we've never even met before today.

"You seem troubled." He said, leaning against the table.

I sigh deeply.

"Could it be the fact that everywhere I turn I think I'm seeing Theo? Or, how about you just now? Showing up all of a sudden. Reminding me of the fact that I -."

"Don't really belong in this world?" Zaylen, says, finishing my sentence.

I close my eyes.

"You can't fight this prophecy. Athena." Zaylen said. "So stop trying, and just live. You making those who care about you worry even more for you. Why make this even worse for them?"

He nods over to Louie and Zerha and I couldn't help but feel tears start to fall.

"I just want everyone to be safe and happy." I whisper, and I could tell Zerha must have read my thoughts before she started to come towards me quickly, pulling Louie along with her, her eyes wide with worry.

"If it's one thing us demons know," Zaylen says as he begins to quickly walk off in the opposite direction, "Is that in this world, being safe and happy is NEVER a sure thing."
