MATT POV

Okay.

So maybe leaving Zehra to deal with Louie on her own wasn't a good idea.

Zehra does have the same temper as he does.

Fighting Fire with fire was never a good thing.

Hopefully it won't go to horribly.

But I can't worry about them right now.

Eve needed me.

I silently knocked on her nursery door that Liam and I had changed more into a five-year-old bedroom while her parents and my sister were gone.

We replaced her crib with a small twin sized bed with a princess themed blanket and sheets.

I have no idea of what but it had two sisters and a snowman on it.

I did know it was of Disney though, it had the logo on the corner of it.

"GO AWAY, MATT." Eve shouted to me, making my heart break at the sound of her sobbing.

She was really hurting if she didn't even want me.

I glance over at Athena who was staring blankly at the door.

I wonder what was going through her mind right now. Obviously having her daughter change from a two-week old to a toddler in just a short week wasn't on her criteria.

I gently nudged Athena, trying to snap her out of her shocked state.

She blinked, looked over at me, as I motioned at the closed door quietly and repeatedly.

She closed her eyes, took a deep shaky breath before opening them and said in a shaky voice,

"It's me. Eve. Can I come in?"

We both heard rustling from inside and the door slightly opened up, Eve's red-orange eyes traveled from her mother, to me, then back to Athena as they narrowed at her.

"Shouldn't you be with comforting Louie right now?" She asked, her voice cold as ice.

Athena flinched at the tone of Eve's voice when she said Louie's name.

My mouth drops.

Did she just call her adoptive dad by his name?! SINCE WHEN?!

"Eve..." Athena starts. "Can we talk...?"

We wait by the door, hoping for it to open, then jump at the sound-

"NO!" She yells. "GO AWAY!"

I bite my lip. Am I really going to let this pass? No. But she's confused because of me... if it weren't for me-

"Eve. Let me in." I flinch at the voice and watch as Louie walks up the stairs, ordering for his daughter to open the door.

I hear her scoff. "Why?"

Louie sighs, and leans his head against the door, and closes his eyes. "Because... I want to talk to my little Sunset..." he says in a sweet voice.

After some silence, she opens the door, her beautiful face red and stained with tears, her eyes shining from the warm tears still rolling down her cheeks.

My heart breaks whenever she's like this, and if she doesn't stop, I'll have no heart to live.

"Fine." She says.

For a 5 year old, she's very bossy.

Louie smiles and gives Athena a look saying, 'I got this.'

She nods and motions for me to follow her downstairs.
