ATHENA POV
The last thing Louie said to me was still fresh in my mind as we climbed into the Cloudslayer.
I had been so lost in thought that I failed to mention I was afraid to fly.
I avoided it at all costs.
Afraid of heights.
Ha! A duck -. Afraid to fly!
Don't crack the small stuff!
I REALLY can't stand heights!
Yet another shameful secret I keep hidden from everyone.
But once we had entered the plane, and taken off . With Zehra at the wheel and Dewey as co-pilot...
It was done to late.
So...
Here I was -.
Gripping onto the arms of my set. Gritting my teeth and looking straight ahead to the point so I wouldn't feel sick to my stomach.
"I really don't like it that we had to leave Eve with Liam of all people." Louie grumbled next to me. "Why couldn't we have taken her with us?"
"Eve didn't seem like herself for some reason." I reminded him.
I blinked hard to keep dots from exploding in front of my eyes.
"All the more reason to have taken her with us." Louie pointed out. "Also, I would have felt more comfortable with Webby and Lena watching Eve then -." Louie stopped and made a sour face. "Liam."
"I second that." Dewey quipped up, glancing behind him at us. "I have no idea why you two have suddenly been on the same side when it comes him. I thought you hated him, Athena. Thought that was the whole reason you reanimated him in the first place."
I closed my eyes.
True.
I did only reanimated Liam so I can torture him for what he had done to Zehra.
But -.
"Lay off, both of you." Zehra demanded. "Liam is sticking with us, rather the both of you like it or not. He can handle babysitting Eve for a week. Besides, it was Athena's call and she trusts him."
Deep down.
I also wanted to use him.
I opened one eye and peeked over at Zehra, she was glancing at me with a look of worry and concern on her face as Dewey continued to rant on about Liam.
I gave her a small thankful smile at her taking over Louie and Dewey's bickering over Liam.
Demons tend to remain loyal to the person who brings them back to the mortal realm.
I only just found out I had the power to bring a zombie back after I've killed them. It was almost as if I was drawn too for some odd reason, and I was even lucky enough to find some part of Liam that I hadn't blasted all over Dewey and Zehra that day, because honestly, once I shot him, i didn't think there was nothing left of him. But -. There it was -. A tiny toe, sticking out of the rubble of the mansion that I had bombed just minutes earlier.
I cringed at the memory of me picking up the toe and suddenly as if I sparked life into it -. The toe started to twitch, making me drop it at once, and suddenly there was Liam, all human and alive, standing in front of me, confused, but still sane enough to whine about Zehra.
That made me angry.
The next thing I knew I had brought him to the basement of the Saberwings and started to slowly torture him, to feed the beast within me from getting out and hurting others again, just like last time.
