I stand behind Dewey and put a hand on his shoulder.
He glanced behind me.
Our eyes locked for just a second before I sense him calming down.
He sighs deeply and his shoulders sag as Zehra walks up to us.
"Sissy. Do you really think the Game Master is behind all of this?" She asks me, her eyes look as tired as I felt of all of this.
I nod.
"Even if it is." Dewey spoke up, his voice was edgy as his eyes narrowed at Liam. "I'll NEVER forgive Louie for what he's done. Or you." He says to Liam and marches off to another room, slamming the door shut.
Both Zehra and I wince when we hear Eve start to cry at the loud noise from downstairs.
"It's okay. Eve." We hear Louie say. She stops crying and I only assume that Louie and started to pick her up and sooth her. "It's all going to be okay." He added.
Zehra and I glanced at each other.
Was it?
Was it really going to be okay?
Here we were.
Me, a demon, not meant to roam the mortal realm along side the zombie invested pandemic.
Zehra, the hero, meant to kill me, so that this mortal realm can be the way it once was.
My daughter. Eve. Suppose to be the savior of our race of demons.
Was all this really going to be okay?
"Well. I see I'm not really welcome here. So..." Liam said, breaking me out of my thoughts.
He tried to get up but both me and Zehra pushed him gently back down on the bed.
"Scrooge says that McDuck Manor is always open to those who've ask for it. I've vouched for you, and I have no doubt Zehra would have too." I tell him, firmly.
Liam chuckled, then groaned as if that hurt him.
"I appreciate it. Considering how you and everyone else feels about me." Liam said, his eyes darted over to Zehra who was staring at us confused, no doubt wondering why we have suddenly becoming close.
I ignore the guilt of what had happened between me and Liam.
Having sex with Liam as Zehra so it could ease his own pain, and loneliness.
Yet, more secrets, I have to keep.
Will they ever stop?
"None of that has changed." I agreed. "I just... Understand your pain." I tell him.
Liam blinked, surprised, but then a smile slowly formed on his face.
"Glad to see I'm not alone." He whispers. He made to grab my hand, then hesitated. I smiled at him, and took his in mine.
"We demons gotta stick together. Right?" I say.
"Right." Liam replies.
But he's looking behind me, and when I follow his gaze, expecting to see Zehra.
But she at some point had left us two alone....
Probably to go check on Dewey.
I look back at Liam.
"So - How bad is it?" I ask him and he looked at me with a look that made my stomach drop.
"Pretty bad." Liam replied. "Emma knows about Eve, it won't be long before she comes for her."
