I slowly get out of bed after my encounter and winced.
I was sore from almost freezing to death in the forest where Liam just left me.
Maybe...
I look towards my own cell phone I hadn't used since the communications went down but came back recently.
I know its asking a lot from him.
But -.
He owes me.
I slowly made my way towards my phone, taking several small steps towards the dresser. I was breathless by the time I got to it, and had to lean against it to hold myself up. But I used my still numb fingers and dial his number.
He picked up on the third ring.
"Yeah -. What?" Liam snapped.
"Hello to you too." I replied sarcastically.
Liam groaned.
"Sorry." He replied, not sounding sorry at all.
"What do you know about a Game Master?" I ask him.
Silence then.
"Not much, really, he's just a rumor in the demon realm." Liam replied. "But if he were real, he'd be close to the royal family. Emma or Matt would know more about that then me."
My turn to groan.
I couldn't ask Emma. That would just steer me towards the prophecy more quickly if I went to her. But Matt on the other hand...
It'd be risky to ask him too. If Emma caught him snooping around for me. She'd most likely torture him for all eternity.
"Why do you want to know?" He asks.
"I -. I need to know something about my past. I only got my Mom's diary and since she is from the demon realm that ended up here in the mortal realm for some reason... I -. I need to know more about her." I tell him.
He hummed at that.
"Well... I can try and go back there -. Maybe get Matt to help with that while he's busy with distracting Emma." He offered.
I picture him rubbing the back of his head, and trying really hard to keep a straight face at that.
Going back to the demon realm would mean death for him too. Emma was his sister. I had no doubt that she'd kill her own brother... If she was willing to go so far as to kill me and Eve.
Emma was secretly NOT the true heir to the demon realm.
According to Goldie.
But I need to be sure.
This could be the very thing I need to change the prophecy and save everyone from the hurt, the pain, and the sadness of it.
Maybe actually find out what the prophecy IS.
Because neither Zehra or I know.
We're just going by what others tell us.
I take a deep breath.
"If it isn't to much trouble." I say finally.
"I'll see what I can do." He says.
"Thanks." I said,
He grunts in reply and hangs up.
I hear a slight knock at the door and jump. Louie was leaning against the door frame, gazing at me with thoughtfully and with concern.
"Um. Hi." I say, and smile at him sheepishly.
I can tell Louie wanted to ask who I had been talking to and what it was about but he thought better of it, instead, he smiled back at me.
"Hey." He replies.
Silence.
Then -
"Shouldn't you be in bed?"
"Where's Eve?"
We both asked at the same time.
"Eve is with Zehra and Dewey downstairs, who are talking with my Aunt Goldie." Louie answered.
I narrow my eyes at the name.
"You wanna met her?" Louie asks, holding out a hand to me.
"I kind of already did. Don't really care much for her already." I admit to him.
Louie looks at me confused, and a bit taken aback by my bluntness for one of his family members.
I take his hand and instead of him leading me out, I pulled him back into the room and shut the door.
"C -. Can we just -. Stay here for a bit?" I ask.
I slowly slid down to the floor and he follows. He takes me in his arms and hugs me close from behind and I didn't recoil at his touch, and I didn't tense up. I merely snuggled up against him and sighed deeply.
"The moon." I said, softy, as we watched the sun rise together from the window across the room.
"What about it?" Louie asks softly.
"If Eve and I are the sunrise and sunset, you are the moon." I explained.
Louie chuckled at that and kissed the back of my neck softly, before saying.
"And the stars can be all the people we care about." He tells me.
"That's a lot of people." I tell him, and without meaning to, yawned loudly.
It's been a long night, and though I slept through most of it. I was exhausted.
But I missed this.
Us.
Cuddling. Loving on each other.
We hadn't had sex since Christmas and I could slowly feel our relationship slowly drifting apart, all because of this stupid prophecy I am trying so hard to change...
If not for the better of everyone.
Especially him.
The wings of my life and the light to my moon.
LIAM POV
Great. Just as my life was starting to get better, I have to go back to the demon realm to help someone who hates me.
Just my luck!
I sigh and stare at the phone in my hand.
Why should I do this?
Well, Liam. This way you can get on Athena's good side, and she might be able to help you get with Zehra. She has the power to do it, her will to do it is the problem.
UGHH! I really don't want to go back to the demon realm! Emma will kill me, and Matt would probably help, knowing I defied his direct orders to never come back and protect Zehra.
Yep. Matt asked me to protect Zehra, too. It's not always about Dewey.
"Well, it would be better than sticking with this furball." I lift up Turbo like the Lion King, and watch him struggle. "Isn't that right, Turbo? I should get on Athena's good side!"
He wags his tail and I put him down.
Welp. I got my answer.
Time to go back home, and find The Game Master...
If he's even real...
