Watching Lan Zhan confess that his home was burned, his brother was missing, and his uncle was injured, was probably one of the most painful things Wei Ying has ever experienced.

He hugged Lan Wangji tighter.

Looking down at the other boy in his arms, Wei Ying smiled softly, "I'll protect you... Lan Zhan." He promised.

Lan Zhan smiled, emotions affecting the people observing that they weren't comfortable feeling between these two, "And I you." Like that, they fell asleep.

-The second the memory went dark and Wei Ying thought about the next one, Lan Xichen jumped in, "Young-Master-Wei," He began, "Thank you for protecting my brother..."

In reply, they heard nothing but a hum.

The next memory began still in the cave, but this time Wei Ying was moping, whining, and pacing in the cave as Lan Zhan watched, a small smile on his features.

"I'm hungry and I'm bored... so boreeeedddd~" Wei Ying cried, stamping his feet, "A-and I'm cold!"

Lan Zhan smiled lightly, opening his arms, "Sit." He said simply and Wei Ying complied with a nod and a bright smile.

"Okay!" He cheered, sitting and snuggling into Lan Zhan's chest, warming up quickly, "You know," He began, looking up at Lan Zhan with shiny, lively eyes, the ones he no longer had.

"I think we should fight the beast."

Lan Zhan's eyes widened and he looked down at Wei Ying like he was mad, before sighing, "We have no weapons."

Wei Ying grinned, "We have the ones the others left behind, hah, come on Lan Zhan it's been six days..."

Lan Zhan sighed, thinking, "I can use chord assasination, and go inside the beast's shell."

Wei Ying gasped, "NO! I'll go, you're injured, I just have a little burn on my chest." He shrugged.

Lan Zhan glared, "A little burn? You're scarred for life... branded by a Wen." He began strong, yet, his sentence turned into a whisper.

Wei Ying smiled sadly, "It's okay, Lan Zhan... now! Let's fight!"

Wei Ying smiled softly when Lan Zhan joined their minds for communication, his heart skipping a beat.

With a final nod, he left to sneak inside the turtle's shell, instantly cringing at the awful smell, it was unbearable.

He and Lan Zhan communicated as he walked along, feet sinking into the mush on the floor and he cringed again, so gross...

Ugh, Lan Zhan I'll stink after this!!

Lan Zhan grinned, I'd say we're both smelly from staying here for a week, but don't worry, I won't mind.

Wei Ying chuckled, a very apparent blush on his cheeks, and outside, Lan Zhan's ears were red.

Wei Ying continued, finding horror after horror, he gulped, Lan Zhan, the monster is so horrible, it not only eats human flesh, but it also digests spiritual cognition...

Lan Zhan's fists clenched in concern, Just like the Yin Iron...

Wei Ying's eyes were wide, flickering around in fear as he walked backwards, away from the corpses until he hit something.

He flinched slightly, turning around and clutching the arrows to be met with a sword, he frowned, reaching down to take it.

Immediately, screams filled his- and as an extension, Lan Zhan's head, they winced, Wei Ying?!

Wei Ying's mouth fell open in shock, his ears ringing, head pounding before he finally pulled away, trembling.

His ears were ringing, vision blurry, in shock from the excruciating loud screams; however, he didn't get long to recuperate before the large head of the tortoise and sharp long teeth charged toward him, the boy gasped.

Acting on instinct, he pulled the mysterious sword from the shell and swung it, defending himself from the barred teeth trying to kill him.

Wei Ying?!

Lan Zhan yelled for him again, his panic and concern felt through empathy and they had to take a breath, those watching shivered slightly, the worry was so strong.

Lan Zhan moved to strangle the tortoise, watching as Wei Ying appeared with his hand wrapped around a mysterious sword and bleeding profusely.

"Wei Ying!" Lan Zhan cried in shock, the skin on his palms tearing from the strings as he tightened the ropes.

They fought fearlessly for hours, suffering through the screams of the resentful, pain blaring in their bodies. Lan Zhan watched powerlessly with torn palms as Wei Ying was rattled about like a ragdoll when finally... finally... the tortoise gave in and fell in death.

Lan Zhan took a premature breath of relief before jumping back to land and turning, as if expecting Wei Ying to be beside him smiling in victory, however, gasped, "Wei Ying!" He yelled, running to the boy drifting beneath the surface of the murky water.

Picking him up despite his own wounds, Lan Zhan hugged Wei Ying close to him and ran to shore once more, carrying Wei Ying back to safety, he lay him down and acted immediately.

"Wei Ying!" He called pleadingly, shaking him to awaken, "Please wake up!"

Wei Ying after a few moments did in fact come to, pale, shaking, and wheezing, he snapped to Lan Zhan looking fearful, "Lan Zhan... did we kill it?" He asked, "I-I-Is it d-dead?"

His family members watched in agony at the terror on Wei Ying's face as he clutched the new sword as if it was fused to his palm.

Lan Zhan nodded, "Mn. Wei Ying, it is dead." He reassured before sitting beside him and intertwining their fingers, transferring his own limited energy.

Wei Ying smiled softly, watching through blurry vision as Lan Zhan concentrated on healing him, rubbing his hands soothingly, "So sweet Lan Zhan..." He whispered.

Lan Zhan's ears flushed, but other than that he was ignored, Wei Ying pouted, "I-I'm bored~" He whined and within empathy, most chuckled, even Wen Qing who was gaining more and more affection for him... however, she was worried to see when she herself came in.

Once again he was ignored, Wei Ying grumbled, tugging his hand back and forth, "Lan Zhan~" He squirmed, "Booreeeddd... Lan Zhan~ sing to me~"

Lan Zhan very clearly smiled just a little before giving in and humming a tune nobody was familiar with. Present Lan Zhan frowned.

-"What song is this?" He asked.

-Wei Ying grinned, letting Lan Zhan himself answer it.

"So soothing Lan Zhan... what is the song's name?" He asked while basking in the wonderful memories he has shared with the other boy, no matter how few.

Lan Zhan paused, ears red as cherries before he answered, "Wangxian."
