Wei Ying was ecstatic.
The Wens had moved into Lotus Pier, or, well, Weis, he and Lan Zhan are engaged, and these robes are super soft! It's a shame he couldn't wear them before.
Wei Ying snuggled into the light lavender flowy robes, he felt like a prince with these many layers trailing behind him, dragged back by the wind.
Unfortunately, though, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows.
It was the Baifeng Mountain crowd hunt.
Wei Ying sighed softly, leaning into Lan Zhan's side as the arm around his waist tightened, he had been going through rounds of cleansing this past month and was feeling a lot better with the resentful energy. He had Subian tucked into his belt rather than his ghostly flute, Chenqing.
They still didn't know how to deal with the backlash of the Stygian Tiger Amulet, so, Wei Ying had to keep in on him to keep it settled and safe, it was uncomfy, but Lan Zhan being there helped a lot.
Wei Ying grinned like an idiot, resting his head on Lan Zhan's shoulder as Jin Guangyao did his usual speech.
Lan Zhan kissed his forehead, "Aren't you going to participate in the Archery?" He asked, smiling softly when Wei Ying whined and snuggled closer.
"Hmnn no." Wei Ying shook his head, "I don't want a repeat of last time." He sighed, shivering as he remembered the feeling of being declared an outcast, the enemy, and the feeling of losing everything.
It wasn't something he wanted to repeat, in this crowd hunt, he'd just collect a few spirits and then walk along the forest's floor with Lan Zhan.
Jiang Cheng, however, did participate in the archery and did pretty well, from their standing, Jiang Fengman and Yu Ziyuan smiled and clapped 'well done.'
Wei Ying pat Jiang Cheng on the back, proud of his little brother. Sometimes he forgets Jiang Cheng is younger, especially recently. Jiang Cheng had been nothing but open arms and reassuring smiles, he had been protective with the fierceness of a lioness, he had held him at night and soothed his bad dreams, like an elder sibling would.
Wei Ying smiled at the thought, I'm so proud of you, A-Cheng... Wei Ying thought as the hunt began and he and Lan Zhan went off for a stroll, not interested in competition. With Jiang Cheng, Jiang Yanli, and Wei Ning fighting for the Jiang Sect's lead, they wouldn't be needed anyway.
Wei Ying hummed, walking on dusty dirt paths through a long gateway of trees and flowers, serenaded by the cheeps and chirps of young and old singing birds.
He intertwined his fingers with his partner, their thumbs caressing their knuckles as Wei Ying lay his head down on the pillow of Lan Zhan's shoulder and Lan Zhan did the same, resting his cheek on Wei Ying's head.
"This feels so peaceful, Lan Zhan..." Wei Ying whispered, his voice was soft like the filling of a cushion and oozed from his lips like honey, "It's been a hectic few... years. I haven't felt like this for so long..."
Lan Zhan smiled softly, switching hands, he used his free one to encase Wei Ying's slender waist, "Then I hope you feel like this forever, Wei Ying." He whispered in reply, pecking the silky hairs on Wei Ying's head, lips meeting the metal of his new headpiece.
It wasn't very extravagant per Wei Ying's request, it was like the one Yanli has that stretches across his head. It was a bit of a mix between Lan Wangji's and Jiang Yanli's, of Gusu making and Yunmeng design.
He still keeps his tassels though framing his face.
Wei Ying giggled, closing his eyes and trusting Lan Zhan to guide him, "If you're by my side I trust that can be achieved." He grinned, opening his eyes and tilting his head up, puckering his lips for a kiss.
