Wei Ying bit and gnawed at his lips, the memory of shadow Lan Wangji kissing him being an insistent one today.

It was also one of the worst memories he had.

Really, he should tell someone, but how was he to start?

Oh yeah I'm fine just got pinned down by a shadow of the man I love and kissed forcefully along with a few hickeys, I couldn't move at all and I felt dead after.

Wei Ying shivered in disgust. No thank you.

Under the moonlight, Wei Ying's bitten lips shone with the leftovers of his liquor, still sitting on the windowsill, not quite ready to return home yet, he peered to the moon as if searching for answers.

It had none for him.

Sighing, Wei Ying turned away from the bright sphere, to look around the tavern, eyes locking with those of a young boy, around his age likely older, sipping liquor and staring at the moon.

The boy grinned, lifting his drink as if toasting to him and smirking a flirty smirk.

Wei Ying hesitated, but eventually smiled back in the same way.

This continued on and off for a while, stolen glances and little smiles being exchanged, until the boy eventually stood and made his way over.

Wei Ying's pulse sped up, "Can I buy you a drink?" The boy asked, he was tall, taller than Wei Ying, and had a defined face and a sword on his back.

A rogue cultivator.

Wei Ying grinned, "I already have a drink." He pouted lightly.

The boy chuckled, biting his bottom lip for a moment as he not so subtly looked Wei Ying up and down, "Then can I buy you the next one?"

Lan Zhan grit his teeth, rage burning his skin and envy poisoning him.

Wei Ying laughed, looking away and exposing his neck. It felt good to flirt, to speak to someone who didn't know about the things he's done or who he is or... or anything of what he's been through, "And what comes after that?"

-Wen Qing sighed, "This is definitely not a healthy way to cope." She muttered.

-Wei Ying flinched, "...I know that now..." He whispered.

The boy once again chuckled, "Well, I once heard a fairy tale that a prince bought a beautiful maiden-" Wei Ying giggled, drawing his knees to his chest, arms between them, the boy sat beside him on the ledge of the tavern and continued to speak, "-a drink, and they got to chatting and the prince was mesmerized by the beautiful maiden, they had a mole beneath their rosy lips, and at the end of the night, they-"

Wei Ying couldn't stop laughing, a feeling so wonderful after months and months of never-ending misery, "There is no such fairy tale!" He barked, laughing brightly.

The boy grinned, "Guilty." He shrugged, only making Wei Ying laugh harder.

Perhaps it was because this boy hadn't known him before today, and that's why Wei Ying found him easy to talk to. He wouldn't try to scold him for his cultivation, he wouldn't pry for secrets, he wouldn't judge or anything because he didn't know him.

Wei Ying liked that.

Both Lan's hearts squeezed painfully. Especially Lan Zhan. This was his fault, Wei Ying's insecurity, he was partially to blame.

Sighing, Wei Ying took another swig of his liquor, "So you think yourself a prince?" He asked, raising an eyebrow and taking another sip.

The boy flushed, eyes darting he searched for options making Wei Ying chuckle, "Er- Yes, yes and as prince, Yong Zheng, also a rogue cultivator," He swiftly added, Wei Ying rolled his eyes with a smile on his face, "As prince, I can buy you another drink."

Wei Ying snorted, "Yes yes, buy this beautiful maiden a drink!" He wailed, biting his bottom lip as the memory faded to another one, later that night.

Wei Wuxian was curled into the corner of the bed, grasping at the last of his inner layers he pulled them tight around himself, sobbing into his knees.

Wei Ying's eyes filled with tears and he shook his head, "No... I'm sorry i-it's not- it's not you- I..." He hiccuped, hyperventilating, "I-I'm sorry just- just please go..." He begged.

Yong Zheng bit his bottom lip, adjusting his messy robes, he bowed an awkward apology before scrambling out as if Wei Ying was a freak.

When he was gone, Wei Ying began to sob, lifting his head toward the ceiling as if questioning the deities, 'why me?' before hiding in his hands.

He felt broken, Yong Zheng was nice and he ruined it, he freaked the boy out by being stupid!

Wei Ying cried into his knees, heavy, heart-wrenching cries. He felt broken, he felt beyond broken.

He couldn't even handle kisses.

He must've cried for ages because when he emerged from his defensive cocoon, his entire body ached with exhaustion and his face was red and wet.

It was heartbreaking.

Shaking, Wei Ying wiped away his tears, breath hitching, he sniffed before manoeuvring to the edge of the bed and putting his robes back together and fastening them with his belt.

And then he stood, grabbing some money, he put it on the bedside table and left, buying another bottle of liquor on his way out.

The memory went dark.
