Hey bestieesssss..... don't hate me :D

Jiang Cheng blinked, eyes wide as his brother sauntered into the room with confidence he hadn't seen since... since before his suicide attempt, "Shixiong?"

Wei Ying smiled at him, an empty thing.

All of a sudden he was the closed-off Yiling Patriarch again.

Looking around, Wei Ying frowned, he couldn't see Lan Zhan anywhere though, that might be a good thing given that the sight of him may have sent Wei Wuxian into a screaming ball.

Wei Ying smirked, "Jiang Cheng." He greeted, turning to Nie Mingjue, "What is our plan of attack?" He asked, eyes running over the map... but nobody could tell what he was thinking.

Nie Mingjue shifted a little, clearing his throat to get over his surprise, "E-Er... well..." He shook his head, "Thanks to your capabilities... we're all going to attack minor bases and camps all the way up to Nightless City, you get to rest until then." He smiled.

Wei Ying sighed, pouting but it wasn't cute.

"Ayah now where is the fun in that?" He grinned, taking Chenqing from his belt he twirled it around his fingers as he spoke, "I appreciate you all trying to protect me, truly," He nodded, eyes almost shining, before his face hardened, "But I refuse to sit on my ass for the entire war, I have a right to this fight too. And I plan to attack." He clenched his jaw, slamming Chenqing down, pointing at a certain place on the map.

They jumped.

Wei Ying chuckled quietly, "I'll attack here first, feel free to join me." He smirked, waving goodbye before sauntering out leaving everyone beyond speechless.

Wen Qing huffed, following after him with the roll of her slightly widened eyes.

"Jiejie for the millionth time I don't need therapy!" Wei Ying whined, grumbling under his breath as he moodily changed for bed behind a screen, listening to Wen Qing's stomping.

But she was just as stubborn as him, if not more, "What is with the macho act then?!" She questioned, crossing her arms.

Wei Ying frowned, throwing his hands up in the air in complete and utter bewildered annoyance, "Macho act?! Who is acting macho?!" He snapped back, glaring at her shadowy figure.

Wen Qing rolled her eyes, "This morning you were-"

"Weak?" Wei Ying cut her off, his voice suddenly hushed.

The stomping stopped.

"-Vulnerable? Fragile? Delicate? Cute little A-Ying?" Wei Ying scoffed, shaking his head, "I refuse to be that Jiejie, I refuse to hide behind everyone until I'm needed because of a few bad experiences. I don't need therapy I need to get back in the game." He sighed, throwing off his belt.

For a while, Wen Qing didn't speak and the silence sent shivers down his spine, the tension was thick, and he found himself slowing his movements as to not return from the changing screen just yet.

"Bad experiences?" Wen Qing eventually whispered as he was tugging off his trousers, hearing him stop, "Bad? Experiences?" She muttered again.

"A-Ying." Wen Qing sighed, rubbing her forehead, "This isn't like falling over and spraining your ankle, you can't just 'get back in the game.'"

Wei Ying gnawed at his bottom lip as he pulled on one of Lan Zhan's oversized white night-robes, tugging it down till it reached his mid-thigh. He didn't like her disappointed tone.

Wen Qing took a deep breath, diving into the deep end hardly knowing how to swim, "A-Ying you were raped. You were sexually assaulted a total of three times. You have lost family three times over, you have been hunted, starved, abandoned, betrayed, used, and you have been driven to suicide... more than once... A-Ying..."

Wei Ying was barely breathing, clutching a thick pair of night-socks in his hand. She continued, "A-Ying, listen, Jiejie isn't saying this to hurt you, I'm saying this because I love you, and I'm worried."

Wei Ying gulped, taking a deep breath he shook his head and blinked the tears away, tugging on the thigh socks until they reached high up his thighs, designed to keep underweight folks warm. (I had to okay just imagine that)

"I just don't want to be a burden Jiejie." He sighed, leaving his hiding spot and sitting on his bed with another sigh, stretching his back and clicking it.

Wen Qing smiled, "See! Something you can work on in therapy!" She cheered, tilting her head.

Wei Ying laughed, shaking his head as he crawled into bed, briefly screaming into his pillow before rolling over, facing her, "Fine." He pouted, "You win."

Wen Qing clapped her hands, kissing his forehead, "I'm proud of you A-Ying." She smiled, skipping out in victory.

Wei Ying rolled his eyes, snuggling beneath the covers, Jiang Cheng walked in a few minutes later.

The Jiang chuckled, going behind the screen to change into his dark purple silk night robes before getting into bed with his brother, hugging him tightly and keeping him safe, "Wen Qing was jumping around about winning something?"

Wei Ying snorted, shaking his head, "She's a mean woman." He pouted, scrunching his nose, "Bullies me..."

Jiang Cheng raised his eyebrows, puffing, he let out a heavy breath, "You are preaching to the choir Shixiong."

It was around four am when the door to Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng's room burst open with a loud bang, jolting them both awake and reaching for their weapons.

Only for Lan Xichen to collapse on the bed and bring Wei Ying into a tight hug, sobbing into his shoulder, muffled, incoherent words lost into his shoulder.

Wei Ying frowned, slowly untensing until he wrapped his arms around Lan Xichen, sharing a look with Jiang Cheng who left the bed.

Lan Xichen sniffed, shoulders bouncing as he pulled Wei Ying into his chest, "I'm so sorry I'm s-so sorry Xian-di I'm so sorry..." He hiccuped, "I-I had a bad dream... history repeated itself I-I... you..."

Wei Ying giggled, shaking his head he lay Lan Xichen down, motioning for Jiang Cheng to leave which he did with a heavy sigh and an eye roll, before snuggling into Lan Xichen's embrace, "I've never had an older brother before..." He whispered.

Lan Xichen sobbed, hugging him even tighter, stroking his hair and covering him with the duvet, "I-I'm sorry to wake you I just... I needed to see if my little brother was okay."

Wei Ying smiled, his heart warm, "I'm okay Xichen-ge." He soothed, closing his eyes again, as did the other man.

The next day, when the sun had risen and poured like honey over the Nie houses, Wei Ying was getting dressed, keeping Lan Zhan's inner-robe on so he could feel close to his soulmate.

Wei Ying smiled softly, tucking Chenqing and Subian into his belt, he left his grand guest-chamber, the Lan white silk collar held between his fingers and brought to his nose so he could smell the sandalwood.

It was such a soothing scent, the best.

Wei Ying sighed, nuzzling into the material as he walked across the courtyard in the fresh morning sun, breathing in the crisp air that brought him to full consciousness with its rejuvenating sensation.

However... as he was walking... his eyes locked with another's just across from him, walking his way.

The other boy stopped instantly when their eyes met, both going stiff.

As Wei Ying stared at the face of his assaulter... or... the face his assaulter used, he ran over the raised, surprised eyebrows, the clear, warm eyes, and soft lips not drawn into a smirk.

And without even noticing... Wei Ying smiled.
