milkywaynative YOU WIN. I'LL SAY IT HERE FOR YOU. JIN ROBES ARE GORGEOUS. 😤

Anyway here is an important scene :)

Watching the two broken boys cry themselves to sleep was heartbreaking for all, almost as heartbreaking as it was to see Wei Ying awake confused before remembering what had happened.

A cold tear ran down his pale cheek, down to his jaw before reaching the dog-collar like bruise stretching across his neck.

-Jiang Cheng sobbed, "Why would you s-stay with me after I almost killed you?" He questioned, crying loudly from his own guilt and his brother's pain.

-Wei Ying sniffed, pushing himself against Lan Zhan's chest as if he could hide behind his long sleeves, "You're my brother, I'd die for you... A-Additionally I promised and owed it to Clan-Leader-Jiang and Madam Yu."

The mentioned adults winced. It seems they have plenty to make up for.

Jiang Cheng and Wei Ying slowly made their way back to their sister, their thoughts maddening.

Wei Ying was drowning in guilt and loss and if he didn't have people to protect, he'd happily hand himself over for the Wen to kill, but if he did that his siblings would die and he couldn't allow that.

Yanli whimpered at his thoughts.

Upon arrival, they found their sister frantic to know what had happened, asking about their parents.

Neither had the courage to answer her, but their crying faces and wobbling lips were answers enough.

To watch Jiang Yanli cry like she never had before, Wei Ying wished for death.

Rain fell on their numb skin, soaking their robes making them cling to their skin, their hair clumped and drenched, Wei Ying gulped.

It was his job to protect them, as devastated as he was, it didn't matter, he needed to be brave for his clan's heirs.

Guiding them gently, or rather, guiding Yanli since Jiang Cheng shoved him away every time he was too close, he snuck them onto a boat and began to row.

Wei Ying was in agony, listening to their cries as his aching arms worked, however, as he pushed the boat, lifting the paddle back and forth, Wei Ying no longer felt like their sibling. He felt like their shield.

***

Wei Ying's heart shattered once more and he broke empathy, unable to continue any longer, "No more!" He whimpered, shaking his head madly, "N-No more!" He wailed, already, his mental state was fragile, experiencing this all over again was just killing him all over again.

Lan Zhan gasped, pulling Wei Ying into his chest, revealing the tear tracks on his cheeks as he cupped the back of Wei Ying's head with one hand, stroking his waist with the other, "Wei Ying..." He whispered as the boy trembled like mad and sobbed his shattered heart out into his chest.

Everyone's eyes turned to Wei Ying, their hearts aching.

Zewu-Jun stood, finally able to catch his breath he clutched his pained chest. It hurt to breathe, to move his chest in any way after hyperventilating for so long.

Grandmaster Qiren followed his lead, standing, he opened the doors wide and relished in the fresh hair, all adults following his lead leaving the Jiang siblings and Wen Qing.
