When Wei Ying awoke three days later, he woke to his sister pampering him, dabbing his forehead and combing his hair and was hit with a sense of deja vu.

But, instead of smelling salty rivers and blooming flowers, he smelt the smoke and metal of Qinghe.

Yanli smiled down at him, relief filling her bloodshot eyes, "A-Xian!" She cheered, "You're awake!"

Wei Ying grinned slightly, sitting up with aching bones, the resentful energy stirred but kept him together nonetheless.

Wei Ying hates it when it does that, he hates it more when it rumbles in front of his sister as if threatening to let him go right in front of her. If that happened, she'd see him crumble into a literal sack of bones, his jaw would dislocate again, teeth would fall, face would deflate, it would be horrific.

And she'd have to see it.

Many listening in physically drew into themselves, the image crossing their minds.

They hope to never see it.

"Shije," He began, "What time is it?" He asked, wondering how many hours he'd been asleep for.

Did he miss the banquet? Hopefully not, he has a thirst for liquor, as watered down as it may be here.

Yanli's tired face twisted a little, "Xianxian... you've been asleep for three days..." She murmured, her eyes watering exposing just how worried she had been during that time.

Wei Ying's eyes widened as he drew in a sharp breath, "Three days?!" He wailed.

He definitely missed the banquet.

-Zewu-Jun grinned, laughing a little, this was definitely refreshing, to hear internal banter instead of the usual misery they hear and feel, "Master-Wei, feel free to drink all the Emperors Smile you desire from now on." He chuckled lightly.

They didn't have to see Wei Ying's face to know it lit up, judging from the gasp and minor giggle that melted their hearts, this news was amazing.

Grandmaster Qiren decided to be deaf to what he had just heard.

"What about Jiang Cheng and- and Lan Zhan?" He asked, taking his Shije's hands as a blush spread across his pale cheeks, remembering who had caught him.

It felt nice, to be caught.

Nobody ever catches him when he falls.

Lan Zhan clenched his jaw, I'll catch you forever and if I can't do that, I'll fall with you and I'll hold your hand.

"A-Xian." Yanli smiled, squeezing his brittle fingers, "They're safe, don't worry."

Wei Ying nodded, biting the inside of his cheek to muffle the whimper that wanted to escape. Swallowing it back down, he squeezed back even if it felt like the broken pieces of his bones were scraping together.

Wen Qing's jaw dropped, just how fragile was Wei Wuxian after escaping the Burial Mounds?

Looking down, Wei Ying brought one of his hands to his chest, bunching his robes, he felt the Stygian Tiger Amulet heavily settled inside of him and breathed in as deeply as possible. It felt like his chest was being weighed down, like he was so uncomfortably full of the metal that he couldn't breathe but also so so empty.

A warm hand wrapping around his skeletal arm distracted him, "A-Xian," Yanli called, "You should rest, the Wen clan has been eliminated, there isn't anything to worry about anymore." She reassured, but, of course, she had no clue Wei Ying had everything to worry about.
