Also, the whole 'chapters won't be this short anymore' thing was a lie lmao sorry </3

-Jiang Fengman's heart shattered into millions of pieces of guilt and horror and self-loathing, "A-A-Xian that's n-not-"

-"Don't..." Wei Yig whimpered, "Please just... don't..." Don't lie to me.

Jiang Fengman sighed, he despised his future self, I'm sorry A-Xian...

After what was said, Wei Ying was painfully numb. Unable to do anything, he stood still as his siblings struggled madly tearing the wounds on his back more and more and staining their own robes with his blood.

As his knees started to tremble and ache, weakened from his blood loss, the Zidian finally freed them from its unbreakable bond and for a moment time stood still.

The three siblings turned to each other, silently communicating, and then they broke into action.

Jiang Cheng and Wei Ying ripped up the seats of the boat and began to make their way back, their hearts racing at a million miles an hour.

Wei Ying whimpered, his back was basically numb at this point but the wounds had weakened him a lot and it was so difficult to push the paddle back and forth.

Lift up push down lift up push down lift up push down...

When they arrived back in Lotus Pier, the sky had been dyed crimson by the bloodshed, several buildings were charred, and everything was silent.

Wei Ying gulped, running alongside his brother through bushes and alleyways to avoid getting caught before hiding behind a wall, looking at the entrance doors, "We can't go this way..." He whispered, holding Jiang Cheng back and shaking madly, he looked around and his eyes locked on a roof, "Follow me."

Jiang Cheng let himself be pulled along, keeping a bruising grip on his brother's wrist, they climbed on a roof that allowed them to peer into their home.

Instantly, the grip on Wei Ying's wrist tightened and even through the cuffs, something clicked out of place.

But Wei Ying didn't care. He didn't even notice. He was too shocked and too broken to care about anything but the pile of bodies and sea of blood.

Carelessly, the Wen soldiers threw the dead folk of Lotus Pier on top of each other. Every second the pile of bodies grew larger.

Wei Ying whimpered, their dead friends, the Wen soldiers, the bloodied sky, the victorious red flags, it was all too much.

Jiang Cheng's breathing sped up, pitiful and small breaking up Wei Ying's heart, "D-Do you see Mother and Father?" He asked, barely able to communicate, "T-They have to be okay..."

Wei Ying's throat tightened as did his chest as the chains returned, locking him in a tight embrace, so secure he couldn't breathe, "I-I don't... see them..." He managed, pushing down his panic for air.

-"Everyone's dead..." Jiang Cheng whispered, his hand tightening on a shaking Wei Ying's as he watched the destruction of his home.

Jiang Fengman was in shock, did he really fail this badly?

Gulping, he continued to silent watch, already knowing what he was about to see.

And as he had guessed, through Wei Ying's eyes, he saw his own dead body beside his wife's.
