Chapter five

After watching Wei Wuxian cause mischief for ages, they were extremely delighted to be met with the graceful sight of Lan Wangji striding forward in neat blue robes.

Bichen at his side, Lan Zhan set off for the Yin Iron but barely made it to the docks before he was discovered.

Sensing something, he sighed deeply and lifted his hand, effortlessly catching the fruit thrown at him before turning, pursing his lips when Wei Ying caught his eyes.

The bright, heart-palpitations-inducing-smile was thrown at him making him almost stagger yet he covered it with a glare, "Boring."

Wei Ying huffed, pouting as he ran up to him, "Lan Zhan~" He whined, "How could you break your promise? We swore to share our chivalric duty, how could you leave alone?!" He complained as they walked.

Lan Zhan didn't answer, giving Wei Ying another opportunity to tease him, "Could it be that you're afraid of losing credit?!" He asked, laughing.

Lan Zhan rolled his eyes, "How boring." He repeated before quickening his pace, listening to the cries of Wei Wuxian pleading him to slow down.

-Yanli smiled, "A-Xian, you're so shameless!" She giggled, delighted at seeing her brother back to normal even if it wasn't her current Xianxian, although she was desperate to know what had destroyed him.

-Wei Ying smiled softly, "Always Shije..."

They were then met with another scene, Wei Ying and Lan Zhan skillfully fighting the manipulated dancing fairy, tainted by the Wen clan.

Protective of each other, neither let the other get hurt even a little and when they'd finally defeated her, new problems arose.

But once again together, they fought as if they had 1000 times before, before then returning to a furious Jiang Cheng.

-Jiang Cheng gulped shamefully, feeling Wei Ying's brotherly love for him even when he was saying horrible things, I've got to change... He thought miserably.

Another scene flashed before their eyes, peppered by small clips of important information but this time, they found themselves in Lotus Pier, sitting at a small table.

Wei Ying was smiling, talking with his siblings and eating food, he was glowing, relieved to be back home... until.

"I see you're back!" A shrill voice screamed and they watched, one guiltily, as Wei Ying instantly shut up and lowered his head as Madam Yu' marched to the table with her servants. (Who had also taken part in past abuse to Wei Ying)

Wei Ying was first to stand up, his fear and dread felt through Empathy as his siblings followed. Smiling, "Mother." Jiang Cheng and his siblings bowed, a soothing stroke landing on his arm.

Wei Ying rose from his deep bow last, breath being held as Jiang Fengman spoke, "Since you're here you should sit." He sighed, seemingly angering his wife, "The children are hungry, I told them to eat first, all of you, sit." He smiled, turning to his kids.

However, they hesitated, glancing at Madam Yu'.

Well, Wei Ying mostly hesitated, knowing if she was angered by anyone, it didn't have to be himself, but he would be the one to taste the Zidian.

Yu Ziyuan tutted, "It is not the right time to be hungry." She scowled despite the fact that Wei Ying felt sick with hunger, however, the feeling wasn't new for him, he could endure, "After a few days, when they go to Qishan for indoctrination, whether they can eat or not remains unknown, so they better go hungry for a while to get used to it." She said, directing her words to all three children, although, her glare only remained on one.
