I looked at my wrist watch and I saw that it's already four in the afternoon.
It's been thirty minutes since my friends messaged in our group chat to meet here in the cafeteria. They told me that they will wait for me here, but it turns out that I am the one who's waiting for them. I just heaved a sigh and sipped in my Dutchmill.
My last conversation with my Ate Shanty came back in my mind. I realized so much because of her.
"You wanna know what made Mom's decision about you and Matthew's relationship changed?" Ate Shanty asked while we're walking down the stairs.
"Can I?" I asked, she just smiled at me. I am so curious about that, and now that I already have the opportunity to know, I won't let this pass.
"He told our parents that his feelings were getting real. Sinabi niya rin na sincere siya sa panliligaw sa 'yo." She giggled. "Sabi niya pa, nahihiya lang siyang aminin sa 'yo pero gusto niya nang totoohanin ang lahat ng namamagitan sa inyo. He's so whipped of you and you are the reason of his smiles, you brought emotions in his heart and you filled the space inside, it even overflowed." My eyes slightly widened after hearing that, I felt my heart pounding hard again.
"I-Is that so?" I can feel my cheeks burning.
"Just a little tip, sis." She stroked my hair while we're taking the last flight of the stairs. "'Wag mong sasagutin if hindi ka pa sure sa feelings niya."
"Then how can I be sure?" I asked. She grinned as she discussed everything to me...
"Shanel?" I was snapped back into the reality when someone called my name, I looked behind me to see who it is. I saw a guy about 5'7 in height. His face is somehow familiar to me, but I can't remember where I met him. "Ako 'to, si Travis, kaklase mo," he said. I nodded my head and gave him a questioning look. "Hinihingi na ni Professor kalbo 'yong research natin sa Biology." He went on.
"Oh!" "Her---oh!" I exclaimed when I saw my wallet's gone. I wandered my gaze around to find Travis and I saw him exiting the cafeteria. I immediately carried my bag and chased him. "Hey! Stop right there!" I shouted as I ran faster. He jumped above the rail so I have to jump too even though I am wearing a skirt. "Travis! Stop, that's my money!" I shouted once more and tried to reach him with my hand but he's running so fast.
I want to give up and let him steal my wallet, but I have my cards and Vince's letter there, I can't afford to give him those.
"Ouch!" I exclaimed after kong matakid sa isang matigas na bagay. I was about to stand up when I saw a gray backpack hit Travis' head causing him to fall.
"Give her that." His cold chilling voice stopped Travis from his attempt to run again.
"A-Attorney..."
"If you won't give her that, I'll report you." Travis immediately threw my wallet towards my direction but it didn't reach me. Then he ran away.
I felt a pain in my ankle as I tried to stand. He helped me to stand up by holding my hand and waist.
"T-Thank you," I said as I smiled a little at Aldrich Buenavista who appeared to be my savior. He just nodded and gave me my wallet. He threw the stick of his lollipop away before walking. "Uh, Aldrich," I called his name which put him into a halt. Nilingon niya ako at kinunutan ng noo. "C-Can you help me?" I asked as I pointed at my right foot.
