Chapter 4: Shane
"Shems!" I hit my forehead when I noticed na sa pagmamadali ko sa pag-scroll ng friend request list ko ay napindot ko ang accept button sa friend request ni Vince. Shemay!
Shems! I hate this uncontrollable hands of mine!
"Don't worry girls, I'm fine." "Are you ready, girls?" tanong ko na tinanguan nilang lahat. "Line up and let's go," utos ko. "Girls, ten laps muna."
Tumango sila 'tsaka nag-umpisang tumakbo. Nagpahuli-huli ako sa kanila saka sumunod.
"Capt, bakit hindi natin hintayin sina Dwayne?" Iryn asked, she's pertaining to the boys' team captain.
I've been the team captain of Girls' Villamonte Soaring Eagles team since March of this year. At first, my teammates were against it. Why? Because they thought Iryn, the team's libero, has the qualities of being a good team captain---which I am not against. And also, they know me as the lalampa-lampa girl. I hate to admit it, but I really am clumsy. I don't know why. But there are times na unti-unti na lang manlalambot ang mga binti ko hanggang sa matumba na lang ako. But despite that situation, I'm still here, proving to them that I'm worth it. The good thing is, they're not stubborn. They're still following me and respecting me inside the court. Maganda rin ang samahan namin ng teammates ko which is a relief for me. We're always here for each other. Whether we win or lose, we don't care. As long as we're having fun, we'll play.
"Okay, now, let's do the planking exercises," sabi ko at nag-umpisang magbilang. Sumunod ulit sila.
Another good thing in our team is walang sisihan na nagaganap. We're not saying hurtful words to each other. If we lose, we lose. If we win, then we'll celebrate. We're not like the other teams that nagsusumbatan after the game. We're not talking shits to each other just to raise ourselves. We respect each other's mistakes, and if we commit some, we'll team up and help the particular person to correct those mistakes. That's why I still love them. No biggies. And kung may magsasalita man ng ng sobrang sakit na salita sa amin, 'yon ay walang iba kundi ang napakasungit na kapatid ni Ken which happens to be our coach... Coach Benedict Dela Rosa.
