Chapter 19: Promenade
I shut down my phone immediately when Ma'am Banoy went back to her seat. She just reprimanded Ken but she didn't confiscate his phone. I don't know what comes inside Ken's mind that he owns up to my fault.
"So, like what Dean has said, we wished for a promenade for this year," Tito Benjamin---I mean, Sir Villamonte, the current President of the school, is now speaking in front of us. "But we put a twist on it." I heard the loud whispers of the students. I felt the stimulation too. The teachers hushed them immediately.
"Exciting mga bes!" Demi whispered with a tinge of enthusiasm. I looked to the right, I saw Vince there, and he's listening carefully to Sir Villamonte. Just like Ken, he's holding something. A tiny blue envelope, I'm getting curious about what's inside tuloy. He probably felt that I'm staring at him, he looked back at me and he smiled. He showed me the envelope, my forehead creased because of that.
"All the boys here were oriented already about this, girls. So listen carefully," Sir Villamonte said. "The boys will pick their partner. PERO! May twist. Pinabunot namin sila ng descriptions ng pwede nilang ayain na partner. Like, for example. Nabunot ng isang lalaki ay 'A girl with brown eyes.' Kailangan, ang aayain nilang babae ay brown ang mata." Shems! It's really exciting!
"Ang galing ni President! He came up with this idea," Iryn said with an amused smile. Sino kayang makaka-date ko sa prom?
"The Promenade has a theme: 'Night to be relished, memories to be cherished.' So whatever happens, you have to make this promenade as unforgettable as possible." Wah! Exciting! But I'm still hesitating to join pa rin. I don't know why. "About the attire, here are the clarifications. Tuxedo for boys with necktie or bow and shoes, basta 'wag rubber shoes. It could be loafer, topsider or just school shoes. And evening gown for girls' attire. About the fee, we'll talk about it at the next meeting. Now, I'm accepting questions, just raise your hand and I will answer all your questions." Now, we proceeded on the FAQ's
"How about the table po, ano po ang magiging set up?" Kei, one of our classmates, asked.
"It is a round table with four chairs. Two partners at each table. Meron din namang mga cocktail tables," sabi ni Sir Villamonte.
"How about the foods po?" mahahalata mo talagang matakaw ang student pag ito agad ang tinanong, 'no?
"Buffet, maraming choices of food. Bottomless ang juice, pero as of now, bawal pa ang alcoholic beverages."
Oh, shookt! Terrence asked the same question as mine.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you. It will be held on February 15 at 7:00 pm until 1:00 am. As of now, wala pang venue pero hindi na problema 'yon," sabi ni Sir Villamonte.
"Excited na talaga ako mga besh! Feeling ko aayain ako ni Zeus!" We chuckled on what Audrey has said.
"SI Brey nga raw ang aayain " Iryn said that made Audrey frown.
"'Wag mong tanggapin, kay Matthew ka na lang!" sabi niya kaya natawa ako.
"Sige, I'll convince him to invite you." She giggled when I said that. "But Sir Villamonte said, may descriptions na dapat sundin, eh."
"She can break the rules, Brey!" natatawang sabi ni Demi.
"So, no more questions?" Sir Villamonte said when no one's raising their hand already. "So, can we proceed with the choosing of partners?" Nag-ingay na naman ang mga students. Shems! They seem to be so hyper! While here I am, being nervous for some unknown reason. "Go, you can approach the girl you want to be your date, boys. Don't forget to give the invitation." Agad na nagtayuan ang mga boys.
