"Shanel?" It was a Monday morning when I caught Ate Sharly busily fixing her things. "Hindi muna kita maihahatid ngayon, nasa leave naman si Kuya Billie." Ate Sharly said, fixing her eyeglasses.
"Is that so? I will go commute---"
"No, magagalit si Shanty kapag nalaman niyang pinag-commute kita," she said with conviction. "'Tsaka delikado ngayon,"
"She will never know unless someone tells her, right?" I asked. Umiling lang si Ate Sharly.
"Pasaway ka talaga, makinig ka na lang, okay?" She heaved a sigh. "Ipapahatid kita kay Austin, okay? Take care!" She kissed my cheek before running outside. Napalunok na lang ako at mariing napapikit.
I prepared a breakfast for myself and ate alone. It is Monday, yet no one is here right now.
I washed the dishes right after, before going to the bathroom and took a bath. I wore my uniform and carried my things. Tumakbo ako pababa ng hagdan right after hearing a beep and a voice outside. Carrying my backpack and my doctor's gown on my arm, I locked the doors and made sure that there will be no entrances left opened.
I went out of the gate but I was surprised that instead of seeing a dark blue Toyota, I saw a very familiar grey Porsche car.
My heart suddenly skipped a beat when the car's door went open, Vince Matthew Veronimo's wearing a white long sleeved dress shirt, pants and black shoes. He also has his coat on his arm and sunglasses on.
"Uh..." He halted and took his sunglasses and put it in his pocket. Medyo kinabahan naman ako for it kasi baka magasgas sa pocket niya. "Nabanggit sa akin ni Ate na wala ka raw service, sh-she told me to send you in the university." He cleared his throat, napaiwas naman ako ng tingin at sinuklay ang buhok gamit ang mga daliri.
"I have my service, I just have to wait for him," I said coldly.
"Oh, is that so? Okay!" he said with a cheerful tone, akala ko ay papasok na siya sa kotse niya but he sat on the hood of his car and looked at his wrist watch. I heaved a sigh and stepped two times away.
It has been a year since the last time we get this close to each other, it has been a year since the last time we stood next to each other.
"How's life?" he asked. I badly want to look at him. But his mere presence is already crushing me, what more to his eyes? I took my phone and tried contacting Ken, but he's out of reach. "Shane!---el," he called me. I gestured him to wait and started calling Audrey's number.
"Hello, girl? Ano? Saan ka na? Nasa cafeteria kami nila Ken at Demi. Waiting for you,"
"Huh? Where are Zeus and Gabby?" I asked.
"Alam mo naman si Gabby? Si Zeus, ewan ko," Audrey said.
Yeah right, ever since Kuya Leo died, Iryn became distant to us which I understand why. Don't get me wrong, she's still our friend. We're still friends, but we can't deny the fact that she's still at her miserable state.
"I miss them already. Oh, and you told me that you are with Ken... Can you tell him to---"
"Fetch you? Sabi ni Ate Sharls 'wag na raw kasi susunduin ka ni Kuya Austin, hindi na pati makakalabas kasi wala ng pass si Ken." I heaved a sigh and unconsciously crumpled my gown.
"Oh, okay. Just tell him to eat lunch with me later, ha? Bye!" I immediately hang off the call with a smile. Then I looked at him, still smiling. "I am good," I answered to his previous question. He gave me an upset look and stood up from being seated on the hood.
