Chapter 63: His Efforts

"How is she?" Iika-ika akong naglalakad papunta sa hospital room ni Shane. Inaalalayan naman ako ni Ken at Audrey na parehong natatawa na lang sa akin.

"Ayos naman, pre. Medyo namumukhaan niya na rin kami." Kuya Austin answered, which made me smile.

"That's a good thing," I said. "Is she awake---aray!" daing ko nang maapakan ni Ken ang paa ko. Sinamaan ko siya ng tingin at inambahan ng suntok pero natawa lang siyang umatras.

"Hindi ko lang alam kung gising na siya," Kuya Austin answered. "Matanong ko lang, ah? Ano bang nangyari sa paa at braso mo?" he asked. My lips twitched in pain as I recall what happened.

"Lakasan mo! 'Yong malulumpo ako!" I shouted after Ken kicked my knee.

"Hindi ko kaya! Loko ka, Matthew!" he shouted back and kicked me again.

"Ugh! Ang hina!" I complained and sat on a chair. Nasa rooftop kami ngayon, inutusan ko siyang balian ako ng buto. Hindi ko alam kung anong katangahan ang pumasok sa utak ko ngayon. Sa dami-rami ng puwedeng solusyon sa problema ko ngayon, heto lang ang naisip ko.

"Bakit ka ba kasi magpapalumpo?" He sat beside me and stared at the view. Pinunasan ko ang pawis na namumuo sa noo ko bago tingnan ang binti kong puno na ng pasa.

"So that I'll have a valid reason to excuse myself in school," I answered and looked at him. He stared at me, nagulat ata sa sinabi ko. I stared at him back while blinking my eyes. Until he laughed loudly like a mad man.

"Grabe! Napaka-brilliant ng plano mo!" He clapped his hands after saying that sarcastically. I just rolled my eyes heavenwards.

"Seryoso ako," I said, emotionless.

"Oo, seryoso ka. Pero nakakatawa ka!" He laughed again, I just shook my head and heaved a deep sigh.

This is a hopeless case.

Gusto ko lang makasama ulit si Shane. She couldn't remember anything, and ever since she woke up, I haven't said any single word to her. Ngayon, nagsisisi na ako. I want to talk to her.

But law school is being an encumbrance.

"Tulak na lang kaya kita mula rito sa rooftop?" he asked. I glared at him in an instant to oppose the idea of that.

Yeah, I want to be injured, but I don't want to die yet.

He stood up and went to the exit of the rooftop. Nagtataka naman akong sinundan siya ng tingin.

"Where are you going?" I asked. I stood up and followed him. Tinabihan ko siya habang nakatitig siya sa hagdan na bubungad sa 'yo pagkabukas ng pinto. He puts the helmet on my head from his sports car and what he did next made me curse at the top of my lungs.

"Ate! Dalhin mo ako sa London!" I whined like a baby while holding my right arm that was severely injured after Ken pushed me at the stairs.

"Anong London?! Ang lapit-lapit lang ng Cortez's GOH tapos sa London ka pa magpapadala? Ano ka? Diamante?" She rolled her eyes.

"Ate! Shit! My leg hurts! Kailangan na ata 'tong putulin!" I tried to summon my tear ducts to produce tears just to look more pleasing.

"Hala, Ma! May chainsaw ba tayo d'yan? Ako na puputol sa paa ni Matthew, oh!"

"Ate! I am serious! Bring me to London, now!"
