Chapter 7: Friends
I felt myself lying down on the side street, feeling a sharp pain in my back. I felt something heavy above me so I instantly opened my eyes... It was Vince Matthew Veronimo.
He stood up and pulled my arms gently so that I could stand as well.
"Don't ever do that again, Shane!" he whispered with emphasis in every word, and took his shoe from my hand. If it wasn't Vince who pushed me here, then I will surely be dead.
I never thought that after the happiness that he has caused me earlier is a great pain that I can't endure anymore. When I realized that I already like him, he made me cry hard.
I answered the call when I saw that it was from Ate Shantelle.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Oh, are you crying?" she asked. Tumikhim lang muna ako bago sumagot. I tried to sound jolly.
"Of course not, Ate!" I said bago tumayo. I carried my bag and started walking.
"Nasaan ka ba? Susunduin ka namin ni Ate Sharly," she said.
"No! Ate, don't bother.
Ate, I was always a burden. "Hoy! Okay ka lang ba talaga?!" she asked.
"Yes, I'm fine," I said before hanging up the call.
"Shanel? Bakit ginabi ka na? I also told you na tumawag ka pag magpapasundo ka 'di ba? 'Wag kang maglalakad lalo na kapag ganitong gabi. Or you could just tag along with Matthew." I sniffed a bit and wiped off my face with a smile. "Oh, gosh! Are you crying, Shanel?" Mommy asked and I just shook my head.
Can I stay in Tita Mariel's house in Laguna this weekend?" I asked, since I knew that the Veronimos are our neighbor, I know that I can't stay here muna. "Mommy, please?" I pleaded.
"Sure, pwede kang umuwi bukas," Mommy said.
"Thank you po," I said and ascended the stairs. I texted Ken and Demi, they both agreed with me kaya nag-prepare na lang ako ng gamit ko for my departure tomorrow.
I looked at my reflection in the mirror. I am wearing a fuchsia pink hoodie jacket, black shorts and pink rubber shoes. I also braided my long brown hair and let it hang freely on my left shoulder. I put some cheek tint on my cheeks to make it look pinkish. Sad to say but I got pale white skin. I tried sunbathing so that I can make my color tan, but it still goes back to its original color. I put some baby powder on my face so that it'll not be oily for the two-hour trip. I put a little amount of my lip tint on. When I found the contentment with my looks, I carried my backpack and got out of my room. I locked it and started descending the stairs.
