Chapter 58: His Side <III>

"Iwasan mo si Shanel. 'Yon lang."

I shifted my position hastily; Marra's words couldn't make me sleep.

Funny how I thought of not avoiding Shane for the sake of our friendship and my utmost respect for her, but when it comes to Marra, I cannot say no.

I love Marra. Kaya noong napansin kong medyo alanganin ako sa kaniya, handa akong gawin lahat para lang ako ang mapansin niya.

I became selfish, even Kuya Brent won't let me go low on Marra.

I took my phone and looked at the pictures taken on my graduation, but I was stopped when I saw Shane and mine's picture. Magkatabi kami roon, she's holding my diploma. Pati 'yong toga ko, ipinasuot sa kaniya ng mga kaibigan namin.

We were both smiling in that picture. I saw another photo of us, I was jokingly pulling her long and loose curly brown hair and she's pulling my medals. That wasn't a pose at all, that was a stolen shot of us. Nagkukulitan lang naman kami noon but it was taken by the camera.

I suddenly remembered what happened earlier between us.

"Ayokong magmukhang mayabang or something, pero... Is it true na... Na... Na gusto mo ako?" Damn it! Why am I stuttering?

Today is the day when I decided to confront her. I wanna know the truth from her, I want to hear her side, I want her to know that I am still Vince. The Vince that will stay with her and the Vince that will always be her friend.

"Uh..." She couldn't give me an answer. "Uh, ano... I-I am sorry---"

"Shanel?" napatigil kami nang dumating si Ken. He gave Shane a bouquet of roses, my eyes squinted while looking at that. "Sinabi sa akin ni Kuya ang nangyari, okay ka lang ba? Ang pangit ng band aid na 'yan para sa date natin mamaya." My eyes squinted more after hearing that.

So they have a date later?

I thought he got dumped?

"Date?" I can't help myself saying something. "You have a date? For what? It is a friendly date, isn't it?" Damn it!

"Ah, hindi na lang siya friendly date, tapos na kami sa stage na 'yon." What?!

"I thought hindi ka pa nanliligaw, na-busted ka na ni Shane?" Hindi ko maiwasang mainis.

"She chose me over someone else.

"Hindi ako gano'n ka-gwapo, hindi ako gano'n kabait at ka-talented, hindi rin ako mayaman pero isa lang ang masisiguro ko..." He let out a smirk. "Pipiliin at pipiliin ko siya, kahit iharap mo pa ako sa iba." Natahimik ako dahil doon, he's really into Shane.

"Sino ba naman kasing tanga ang titingin pa sa ibang babae kung si Shanel na ang katabi niya? Sinong tanga ang lalampas pa kung nasa harap niya na siya? Tanga na lang."

"Okay." I tried searching for a word to use but I couldn't so I just came up with that answer. "Hope you enjoy your date." I went away from them, pretending to be going home already pero nagtago ako sa isang sasakyan sa likod nila.

"Shanel, kung ako sa 'yo... 'wag, iiwasan ka niya. Sorry, pero huwag mong ipagpalit ang friendship niyo para sa unrequited feelings mo." I heard Ken's voice.

"Don't worry, I will not let him know my real feelings---"

"So totoo nga?" I showed up myself in front of them. I saw how shocked they were after seeing me.
