December 2020

Today we were to be on After School Club, which I was unnaturally excited for. I happily stood as the last one in our line up as the boys went out one by one to introduce themselves.

"Hi, I'm Jiyeon. I'm 17, and... I'm probably gonna speak the most English today," I excitedly introduced myself before skipping down to my seat.

We immediately began talking about how it was to be on the show for the first time. I silently sat and watched the boys as the hosts switched between English and Korean.

"I heard an accent earlier on," Jamie spoke up making us all look to her, "no wait... I heard at leats two... Australian and British."

"Jake's the Australian," Sunghoon proudly pointed out.

"I think Jiyeon was the British," Jamie said and turned to me.

"That would make sense, yeah," I nodded at her.

"But you aren't from England..." she stated and I shook my head.

"Uh... I don't know where it is in other places. But in Europe we learn British English... so I spell a lot of things with an 'U' and learned the pronounciation... because that's just how we do," I explained and she just nodded at me.

We soon began speaking about our album, once again I sat and silently listened to the boys speaking about our album.

"So you've performed on a lot of stages, have you made any mistakes before?" Jamie questioned and we immediately began hearing about the various stories.

"Didn't Jiyeon-ie also have one?"Heeseung questioned and turned to me.

"Ah... it's not a mistake," I shook my head at him.

"Come on, you can tell us," Jaeyun, the host, assured, making me let out a small laugh.

"I've just had a malfunctioning earpiece, so I get electrecuted each time we perform... and it's always doing the engine part of the dance. You know the group thingy where we go: oooh oooh oooh," I explained and they all nodded, "yeah, so I've begun not performing with my in-ear, not until it gets fixed at least."

"Ah, but that's so hard," he commented.

"No, no, it's fine," I immediately waved it off, "nothing has happened yet."

We contiued answering questions about the album for some time before it was time for us to move on for the next segment.

"Before we go on, I do want to point out that Jiyeon has held her promise in spekaing the most English," Jamie pointed out making me let out a small laugh.

"I am more comfortable in English than in Korean," I quickly excused, "it's only for that reason."

"It's such an advantage for you, isn't it?" Heejun questioned and I let out a small laugh.

"Uh... I have to be careful with what I say now, for it to not be misunderstood. But I can tell you so much about some members and they won't know what I have revealed," I carefully explained and he just let out a laugh at me, "so yeah... watch out boys," I warned the boys to my right.

After the album segment there was a small pause where they played the performance we had pre-recorded earlier.

"Show us how you felt when you heard your title-track for the first time, through facial expressions," Jamie read and we went down the line, with very entertaining reactions from each of the boys, "Jiyeon," Jamie announced as the last one.

"Uh... I don't remember when I first heard it," I sheepishly admitted earning some laughter from the boys who had understood, "No wait... I wasn't in Korea at the time, the fans will know I was back home to go to school in Denmark, because I had two exams. So I actually sat in math class when it was send to me... so yeah... no big reaction because I couldn't show that I was listening to music, because we wasn't alloowed to."

"A silent reaction," Heejun stated and I just nodded in agreement.

As the break time segment came we were given missions one by one, and the people who thought they could do the mission would have a chance to come out and try their luck it.

"Can I try the multitasking? " I questioned after Jake had failed and the hosts all nodded and Heejun arranged the papers for me to count.

"We need a mic hold," Jamie pointed out to the boys and Jungwon immediately rushed up and grabbed my microphone before rushing over beside me, "English or Korean, Jiyeon? "

"English," I replied and Heejun just nodded at me.

"Fighting," Jungwon cooed at me, making me let out a small laugh as the timer started.

I tried to count the papers in my hand as I answered the math equations in English. I did not get an equation wrong like Jake had, luckily. I did not want to get hit by the hammer.

"Times up! " Jamie loudly announced and I straightened up.

"How many cards did you count? " Heejun questioned.

"Uh... trente-deux," I replied making him just stare at me.

"Sorry, you what now? " he questioned in amusement, making me realize what I had said.

"What language was it this time?" I immediately questioned and turned to Jungwon who was just laughing at me.

"I have no idea Ji," he admitted to me.

"Ah, hold on. Let me translate," I immediately called out and took a step back from the microphone as I grabbed onto my head.

"She's overheating," Sunghoon laughed from behind me as I desperately tried to find the right reply in English. I knew what number I meant I was just struggling to translate it directly for some reason.

"It's the language brain," Heeseung joined in on the laughing.

"Ah... thrity two, thirty two," I eagerly replied and handed him the piece of paper I had counted up.

Heejun counted up to the twenty pieces of paper before looking to me as if to confirm my answer.

"30, 31, 32... done," Heejun stated and the hosts all looked at me in shock as I happily jumped in my place before Jungwon quickly pulled me into a happy celebrating hug.

"How... did she do that?" Niki questioned in shock as I just happily skipped back to my seat.

"She counted in another language," Sunoo pointed out to him as I just nodded at him.

"But so did I," Jake defended.

"I think Sunny has a bit bigger library than you, hyung," Sunoo commented and I simply shrugged.

"What can I say? I'm just... cool," I stated with a small laugh, trying not to find myself embarrassing.

Overall we did have quite a lot of fun on set, and I don't think it'll be the last time we go to such a place. I could hope we would go back... or at least do something more in other languages once in a while. But I did end up being the one who spoke the most English, as predicted.
